Change of address and Import Tax

About a couple of weeks ago, I moved from one flat to another. I informed everyone about this change of address, however I was not aware that there is the option to forward your letters to your new place for one year, I will go to do this tomorrow.

However, I am afraid that I may have missed some important documents. About 3 or 4 months before moving, I went to Germany to buy some furniture. They told me there that I do not have to pay for VAT, but I will receive a letter from the customs office to pay CHF 79. I gave them the address where they were supposed to deliver, but in the documents I signed back then, there are both addresses (both the valid one back then and my current one).

I am afraid that the customs office may have sent the bill to my old address, but since there are new tenants now, their name is on the doorbell, so the letter must have returned back. To make things worse, I am afraid that since they cannot find me in my old address to send me the bill, they will issue a debt request and I am going to be registered in the betreibung.

Is there a way to find out if this bill has been delivered to me? If yes, how can I ask them to resend it to my address?

Re: Change of address and Import Tax

Couldn't you contact the seller or the customs office directly and ask whether they've sent you any account and whether you have an outstanding balance?

Re: Change of address and Import Tax

I will contact the seller directly tomorrow to confirm. As for the customs office, I have no clue who to call. Is this a government department? Because the document that I have refers to a company, which seems to be an international freight forwarding company. Do they pay the taxes and then I have to pay them? Or do they simply do the paperwork?
