UK won't ship either. Looks like plan B may be needed. One of hubby's work colleagues lives in France.
Another option would be to have them shipped to one of the Amazon drop off points just over the border in France and pick them up during a shopping trip.

Re: Purse

I use a wallet with a single coin pouch. To avoid the seeing an expression of exasperation on the cashier's face as I fiddle around in there trying to extract exact small change, I tend to pay with a note which, naturally, means even more coins in the pouch. From time to time, I tip these out at home into a jar.

If I'm forced to pay with coins, I usually empty the contents of the coin pouch into my hand to make it easier to select the coins. This has often the effect that the cashier starts picking the required coins directly out of my cupped hand, presumably in the assumption that she (usually it is a she) is dealing doddering old fool or such like. Anyway, it does speed up the whole process.

Oh and the coin jar. My bank has a machine I can throw all the surplus coins into and it credits my account automatically.

Re: Purse

Why bother when you can have so much fun with loose small change in a big purse, especially when you are commuting.
I have found out that you can drive commuters to Weißglut if you buy, say a Brez´n for 2.49 Euros and you pay with two fifty cents, two twenty cents, 6 10 cents and the rest in one and two cent bits. Do it nice an slowly and if you are feeling really evil, like me most mornings in my guise as bastard commuter from hell, then you give them three or five cents too much so that they have to count it again, then, when you can feel the pure, incandescent hate from those behind you as a physical force go into old git mode and order a second Brez´n.

No, I went and searched for it all by myself. I thought your link was just to .de, not a specific product.

What a waste of time!!

I'll just let you do the work for me from now on.

Yeah, well, they are called links for a reason and for those who forget that clicking on it opens worlds, they are even automatically set in blue.

But hey, you know how important double-checking is. We both reached the same thing in different ways. It must be true (=available there).

I was a little prickly last night.

Just to update. Was able to order 5 of these from Amazon UK to be collected from our local post office in the UK so I'm well stocked up now. Hopefully, they'll last me for a few more years. Thanks everyone for helping. As usual EF rocks.

Yes. I've got them for 3 different currencies: French, UK and Swiss. Want one for an upcoming trip to the States as well.

I'm glad that you found a solution

Out of curiosity, have you checked into if it is even possible to get the zippers repaired?

Re: Purse

Not really. Hubby managed to replace the pull on a couple of them for me, but when the ring they go into broke on another one I just stopped using it. I suspect here in Switzerland a repair would probably be as much as a new purse.

Possibly, but at least you wouldn't have to go look for them again

The US? You’d need one very large pocket for the penny, then smaller ones for the nickle, dime, and quarter. Although 0.50 and $1 coins exist I really doubt you would ever see these outside of Nevada.

Go to Canada instead where they have 5, 10 and 25 cents; $1 and $2. Much more civilised.

Re: Purse

Vantage point.
I use my cards. They even work via touch in places with sign depicted by something like ))). I tell ya, it’s a modern wireless technology. It eliminates a need for coin’s compartment and necessity of paying by means of notes that are subsequently exchanged to multiple coins - what a pain!!!

Drawback.
My shopping choices are somehow limited to suppliers who use card readers only (most of them do use them though ). Sometimes, I only get rejected during my ski trips on the top of the unknown mountain where they try to sell me Brot, Wurst and Rivella in a local fashion dealing with cash only. Otherwise I would get hungry.

And those card fees what a ripoff!

Already convinced to try it out?

Nah, was meeting up with friends so US it had to be. Didn't get that much change, but it was a shame I didn't know BA was doing charity coin collections on their flights otherwise I could have given them several bags of coins.
