will past catch up on new Job

Hello All,
My partner is joining a bank soon. But will the past be an hindrance... As my partner was caught in an incident of shoplifting (around 200chf) and was fined by the shop and by the public prosecutor..
this happened a couple of years back... my partner has never ever been involved in other incident.. before or after this..
Will this hamper new job.... will they come to know about it...
Thanks a lot.

Exactly. A "Strafregisterauszug". The Bank will surely ask for a recent one.

I don't think this is reflected in Strafregisterauszug.

Do banks ask for any partner's criminal record? Or do partner's crimes show up on yours?

Banks definitely will ask for a Strafregisterauszug. It might already have expired (5yrs I think) so I would first get it on your own to check. If it’s clean all good. If NOT then I would make contact with the bank ASAP and ask/explain it!

Better to come forward right now than to wait for them asking for it.. (because they will)

Re: will past catch up on new Job

The banks will require a Strafregisterauzug (criminal record register extract) and Betreibungsregisterauszug (debt register).

If there is an issue on either, whether or not the person gets hired will depend on the nature of the issue, and the willingness of the hirer to take a risk that the employee does not reoffend or do something naughty at the place of work. In the case of the banks they will also be concerned with potential regulatory and reputational risks.

Trying to hide anything is a bad idea. The banks do regular re-vetting of staff, particularly if they work in sensitive areas with access to customer data etc.

Cheers,
Nick
