Anybody got a fridge like this?

Moved into new place and it has a big american style fridge freezer with ice maker and water dispenser.

I can't see a model number might be on the back but it's properly fitted in a tight space.. Found various instructions for the brand but not the model..

Question is how to get the ice maker working!?
When we switched it on yesterday it made about 20 ice cubes in the first hour, nothing more since. I assume it's plumbed in and I don't need to put water in because the water dispenser works ok .. The ice cube button just switches between crushed ice (which goes everywhere) and bigger chunks. I need a button that says make ice now.

Re: Anybody got a fridge like this?

Have you tried removing the ice that it's already made and seeing if it makes more? There may be a switch under the container which shuts the ice maker off after the tray is full.

Yeah.. The container is like 30cm high and it had just a few cubes in the bottom.. The problem seems to be above, there's a thing like a traditional ice cube tray, on a pivoting rod.. So water goes in the tray, freezes and the things turns upside down..drops into the container..

Right now the tray is has cubes in it.. But it has not inverted and dropped them - refilled etc.. continued the cycle..

I do have a standalong ice maker so it's not the end of the world, I just like things to work.

I've only fixed one of those once. It was relatively simple to get the casing around it apart. Worth having a look, it might be a simple fix.

If you are renting in a block of flats, then the neighbours might very well have the same fridge installed. You could pop over, introduce yourself, and ask them if they have a manual or could just show you what to do.

I’m semi green with envy, (only semi green because I have a stand alone ice maker)

However, could this be your refrigerator?

I actually found the model .. I went through every PDF on the company website until i found it..

So you nearly had it, thanks!

Still really none the wiser.. I took it all apart, screwed around a bit .. Nothing.. Then an hour later, clang, it dropped 6 ice cubes into the container..

Maybe it's just crap.. My stand alone machine makes loads!!

Is it too warm even for that fancy machine?

Re: Anybody got a fridge like this?

Are you still getting water? If not then the line might be frozen.

If you are getting water, try removing the ice bucket, emptying it, and looking for a little arm behind/around/above it that would tell the fridge the bucket is full. If you gently manipulate you can see if it's stuck.

Sounds like you've already played around a lot and managed to get 6 more cubes, so you did something right.

Re: Anybody got a fridge like this?

I sure you are all desperate for an update .. So ..

The machine is now making ice regularly, it's pretty slow but keeping up with demand.. My standalone machine makes new cubes every 10 minutes or so until the water runs out. But the big freezer it's more like hourly. But the container is big so it now has probably a couple of kilos of ice ready ..

Slow and steady it seems .. I guess the manual was correct, it needed time to reach optimal temperature and settle down.

Re: Anybody got a fridge like this?

Now that i know how the saga ended, i will sleep better at night :P

Im curious why do you need so much ice though. Back home for a family of five we need less than a kilo per week!
