Planning a trip from CH to Amsterdam by car

Hello,

Anybody here has travelled to Amsterdam by car (starting point basel)?

I would like to ask how much gas money + tolls did it cost roundtrip? It'll be our first time traveling there as a family and we are planning to take the car.
Plane, train and buses are not options for us.

Thanks!

Drove there last summer but didn't keep track of the cost.
But if I remember correctly it took a tank of gas.
Also there were no tolls.
But if you really need to figure it out try here: https://www.viamichelin.com

Hi Filipinia, hope you have a safe trip. Just be very careful in Amsterdam with your car, as all foreign cars are theft magnets !!
Make sure you have secure parking and then use public tgransport in and around the city.
Many years ago, in the city, the average time for a car to get broken into was less than 24 hours !!

About 7500 times last year, so chances are not really incredible high given the total amount of cars. Keep valuables out of sight or take them along.

Nonsense.

I never paid toll on those routes. As for gas money, this strongly depends on how much your car uses and driving style, I've done it for around 125,- I've done it for double.

Re: Planning a trip from CH to Amsterdam by car

I am not too far from where you live, and I drive about 5-6 times per year to the Netherlands, my route would be as follows:

Neuchatel - bordercrossing Le Locle - Nancy - Metz - Aire de Berchem (Luxembourg) for a tank stop - Liege - Maastricht - Eindhoven - Amsterdam.

I leave with a half tank diesel (i.e. 40l) and fill up in Luxembourg. Normally I spend for a roundtrip CHF 200 in total. This route does not contain any toll ways, it is slow driving, since your max speed in France will be 110kmph. Until you hit Nancy you will be mostly on national roads.

And oh yes, I drive a Ford Transit.

Also, Amsterdam is a relatively safe place. People are nice as well there, so don't worry.
I suppose it's obvious that in any big city you will not leave valuables in sight, or blue-tooth enabled devices in your vehicle.
