Using contact free system to pay at terminal

They say that if one has to pay more than 40CHF in a single transaction then one has to put in the card code. But what if the card is stolen? Someone could rack up alot of purchases in an hour or so ( until noticed ) with purchases under 40CHF. Is there a daily limit on the number of purchases?

Not that I know off. But the banks systems are supposed to notice unusual behaviour, so if there were hundreds of 39.00 sales in an hour it should be flagged.

Yes I found this quote from Cembra bank

Individual transactions without a PIN are possible up to an amount of 40 francs. For contactless numbers without pin input, there is a limit of a total of 120 francs. If the amount reaches 120 francs, the pin must be entered. Afterwards, the cardholder receives a new "deposit" of CHF 120 for contactless payments.

But maybe not all banks offer this
