To share my horrible experience with post delivery service in Switzerland (EMS)

As many of you being away from your home countries, I imagine for each moment of important days or any of days, your family members or some friends would like to send you some gift or food to console your homesickness.
My family does sometimes an always happily choose the EMS service. Becasue they know and believe that even though a bit of extra charge, it is convinient to recieve fast and at the door.

But already how many times I had to go to post office by myself next day, although most of time I am waiting at home.
My place is not an appartment and I have the door bell right next to my mailbox. Means that there is no stair to climb to approach me or walk extra steps to ring my bell.

Especailly today, since I was expecting an EMS parcel to be delivered, I was kind of on stand-by and waiting.

Right immedeatly I saw the yellow truck parked in front of my door, I exited and was waiting at the terrace(I would say 1m away from him between the grill metal door).because the postman seemed busy arranging the parcels, and I did not want to stress him to get my things. I was especting him to knock the main entrance after all, but he just left leaving the paper in my post box that I need to come pick it up to post office. I could not believe that he even did not try to once ring my door.

I know sometimes they are short on time so after ringing the bell they have no much time to wait.
But today to confirm that sometimes they do not even bother to to approach... I felt they don't need such a vehicle to carry many boxes. Just some piece of papers of notification to put in each one's mail box must be enough.

Moreover, when I called call center to explain about it, the reaction of the agent handling this case can never be more unprofessional than any.
I was not claiming or requesting to get delivered again. I just wanted to explain for those experience I had and I really fed-up each times. So for the future, I once wanted to inform them what is happening here and if it could be improved..
But her attitude cutting while I am talking and telling me just "go tomorrow with paper and get your things..." really un acceptable.
(I also have an experience few months ago when I was recieving one electronics through post. That day, I also was waiting for him in front after seeing his truck parked in front of my place. We even had eyes contact but he didn't give me any. But the delivery statue was became already "delivered". I was kind of confused. After about 1h, the postman came back without the official vehicle and just left it in the mail box-without signing or contacting me. I could make many stories, but I would rather wanted to just believe that it was a mistake)

I know I have no.much choices living here.
But I am so depressed whole day after this morning just small thing what happened with post.

It is ok, nothing urgent or post office is not that far from home, but this time all the past things came up together...
And I have been reacting exaggeratedly by myself...

Just what I was going to ask Tom. Never heard of it/them. From reading their post maybe recorded delivery? Or something that needs to be signed for?

Is it related to PMS?

Re: To share my horrible experience with post delivery service in Switzerland (EMS)

Why didn't you simply speak to him, and ask if he has a package for you?

Perhaps your hanging around and looking at him made him think you wanted to steal a package for someone else, so he thought it best to leave a note and have the person pick it up at an office.

Re: To share my horrible experience with post delivery service in Switzerland (EMS)

Simple answer to the problem, don't use EMS. You probably get the same delivery time by just sending it recorded delivery through whatever your country's postal service is.

Relax Honey
Even if u are right, they are not going to be any nicer to u if u kick up a fuss. not sure where yr post is coming from, but rest assured there is hardly ever a problem with the swiss post. Google the postal system Switzerland, u will be amazed. But who ever is sending it, can put a tracking monitor on it. Its free ( in SA) everytime yr parcel/ registered letter get to another sorting center it gets noted & the sender gets a notification, so u know where it is at all times. gives peace of mind
But I realises, life gets a bit much sometimes & a minor thing like yr post issue can make the castle tumble. Relax, Reassess yr life in Ch, go on holiday, have a weekend away, only look at & think lovely things. XXX :-)

Re: To share my horrible experience with post delivery service in Switzerland (EMS)

You are not alone, same happened to me in my previous apartment where postman always dropped pickup slip rather than making any attempt to deliver. https://www.englishforum.ch/complain...tman-rant.html

In my current apartment, touch wood postman always brings the parcel and ring the bell.

Re: To share my horrible experience with post delivery service in Switzerland (EMS)

In Zurich I only had normal or good experience with the Post so far. I did not know about EMS, but I ordered something on amazon.co.uk on Friday and it arrived yesterday. The Post sent me an email when it took charge of the parcel, then sent me another one when the object was scheduled for delivery and gave me options to choose what to do at the moment of delivery, e.g. leave it at the entrance, bring it to my floor etc. Same for international shipments from other countries (unless the shipper intentionally picks up an independent courier).

@Hamtori: my suggestion is to register at "My consignments" area in the Post website, it's free and you will just have more info on your future deliveries: https://www.post.ch/en/customer-cent...vices/ekp/info
since I did it I never had to sign anything anymore, with the only exception of shipments with a special security policy (e.g. SIM cards).

Re: To share my horrible experience with post delivery service in Switzerland (EMS)

Yes, I so much regret that I didn't ask him directly, then I could avoid this issue. I wasn't wandering around him, but waiting him at my terrace. since I saw him busy arranging his truck with many boxes(oftenly they park in front of my door and deliver several place around), I thought I will not stress him while he is arranging and wait for my turn. When I saw him leaving I immedeatly went to out, but I found just the notification memo.

Thank you for good advices.
I am not unhappy with system here, still good we have an option that always we can go get our things to post office next day-hardly damaged, or missing.
It was more experience about, with those who are handling it.(delivery, service center etc..).I just wanted to geltly inform about my bad experience but the call center staff's unexpected aggressive attitude ended up to me adding fuel to the fire...:-(
It wasn't my day and with my mood today also did not help to get it easy .

Thanks all of you guys for the comments. While I was writing an email to ems center, I found this English forum. So I could release here and calmed me down. I will not send that email.
Have a good evening!

Re: To share my horrible experience with post delivery service in Switzerland (EMS)

I've had experiences with postmen simply being useless (like getting things completely wrong and forgetting a part of their tour in addition to doing stuff like this) and the company not reacting appropriately, but mostly it's localized issues.

I use “My Consignments” too, but have some senders do not accept an ‘e-signature’ and I need to be physically present when I sign. Either at the front door or at the post office. More and more do but I recall some tax and other government offices didn’t. They may now.
