| | Bike helmets in daycare?
Parents, what has been your experience with rules and practice regarding kids in daycare using bicycles, tricycles and kick scooters?
We picked up our daughter (2 years, 3 months) and were informed she had fallen off one of these (unclear if it was a kind of tricycle or a "trottinette"), but they said as she was wearing her padded down hood they weren't too worried about the knock to her head (!)
I had just foolishly assumed that if they were going to put her on something with wheels outside in the concrete yard they would either give her a helmet or tell us to bring one-- but apparently not.
Have any of you run into this, or does your daycare do things differently?

I'd be mostly concerned that they take the kids to play on a concrete yard, kids will jump, run, fall, slide and climb no matter what kind of floor. And if it would have been playing with trottinettes on a concrete floor I'd be beyond pissed off.
As for ours, they only have vehicles with 3 or 4 wheels where one must sit to be able to use them af far as I've seen, also they are only allowed to use those vehicles inside and only in areas that are designated to be used by vehicles (Yes the place is beyond huge with about 200 kids) And no concrete floors...

Thanks very much. I don't think they're going to change their yard approach sadly as that's the space they have
For now ours has agreed we can leave a helmet at the daycare for them to use for our kid when she goes on a wheeled vehicle...

At least they made sure she was wearing a hoodie as protection. It must be very difficult for the Kita carers to react to everything so quickly. Considering the low salary they get, try not to be too hard on them.
In fact, I personally think they should get some tips, etc., for all their work. Did you know there are many KITAs that require their employees to pay for their own Christmas dinner? That can be quite depressing its staff.
Anyway, glad everything worked out.

It's literally their job to react quickly. Be proactive, in fact.
Paying for your own Christmas dinner is very common! That's the education/chiodcare sector for you.

Anyway, glad everything worked out. | | | | | Yeah, would make sense to recognize them with a gift or something at the end of the year, however pitching up at child dropoff/pickup and handing out envelopes with small cash gifts (good Asian new years tradition) seems like it would look out of place and might get us somehow in trouble. The parent community seems quite atomized and doesn't have a PTA like group.
