Re: Swiss answer for Amazon?

Just to go back to amazon.de: I refurbished my kitchen and bathroom and ordered most of the hardware from Germany. Some from Amazon, some from other German retailers. Most of them claimed on their websites that they wouldn't ship to Switzerland, but when I contacted them via email with my shopping list, they all said it wouldn't be a problem. The suppliers sorted out German Mehrwertsteuer and import duties and everything was delivered on time and headache-free, at least for me. One supplier checked my order for the bathroom, i.e. shower fittings, WC with water cistern and hand washbasin to make sure everything was compatible and I hadn't forgotten any gromets.

I used toppreise.ch for oven, hob, fridge and freezer, having researched the exact models I wanted. Nettoshop came out on top for most things. They weren't necessarily the cheapest, except when delivery cost were factored in.
Can you post links to suppliers? Looking for mapress stuff mainly

Re: Swiss answer for Amazon?

I've been buying from this site for years with great results:

www.aliexpress.com

Due to free-trade agreement with China, everything ships directly to your mailbox with no customs fees. Shipping fees are often waived. Prices are at least 50% off or more compared to Swiss online shops. Quality in general has been very good, I just don't recommend clothing as their definition of Large is more like small for European standards. Electronics have been tip-top.

Re: Swiss answer for Amazon?

I second Ali... but things can take ages to arrive (up to 2 months)

What I have started using in these corona times is

https://www.fruugo.ch/ seems to sell everything, I have a few items on the way that were shipped from UK with a tracking number (shoes..)

and

ebay.co.uk showing only articles that can be delivered to switzerland (and that I normally brought from amazon.de shipped to germany).

Galaxis and Digitec have IMO by far the best search-function.

I mean, toppreise is great if you know what you want.

But say you want to look what laptops or displays with specific requirements are available - last time I looked, amazon's search was garbage.

And digitec/galaxus have meticulously catalogued and categorized almost all of their items. Not just computer-gear.
Geizhals.de is kind of a cross between toppreise.ch and a detailed search engine like the one on digitec. The downside is that one needs a bit of German to navigate around (not that unexpected on a .de website, I dare say).
I typically use it to identify the right product by the characteristics, then drop the model number into Toppreise.ch for the price search and comparison with the German prices.

ah, thank you, Spinal. I used https://www.reuter.de/en/
for my bathroom refurbishment. Shower fittings, WC and hand washbasin, taps, all hardware. They were very good. The whole transaction was done via emails and bank transfer rather than through their website, but at prices quoted on website.

Alas, Spinal, I don't think they sell what you're after.
