Bathing areas that are not crowded

Hi there, so we're in the middle of a pandemic and a heatwave all at once, and I am looking for a place to go bathing, without it being swarmed with people. We live in Aargau, in the part very close to Zürich, and last week we went to Mythenquai, which is a nice enough place, but it was very very crowded. I am thinking, that there simply MUST be some areas, either at Zürisee or some other smaller lake, that maybe is not an official strandbad, and is a place where not a lot of people go? Anyone who can help? We also looked at Utoquai, but it's right in the city, and driving in there is really not funny at all. I am hoping someone would have a bit of knowledge of a perhaps hidden pearl somewhere, that they'd like to share.

Thanks.

Anything in Zurich will be crowded and anything near Zurich. Probably only less crowded if you go further out into the countryside.

Drive around the lake and find some quiet spots, preferably on the Wollis/Horgen side which is much nicer and more charming than the highly overrated and somewhat characterless and sterile gold coast side.

Re: Bathing areas that are not crowded

I've been walking down the lake at Thalwil this week. Plenty of places to just sit and enjoy, and go for a bit of a swim...

Re: Bathing areas that are not crowded

Hi! Regarding the official baths in Zurich (the ones where you must pay) there is a page reporting temperatures and frequentation:

https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/ssd/de/...peraturen.html

Although it is not updated often, one can get an idea of which ones are less frequented. E.g. it seems that the Uetliberg side of the lake, which gets shadow early in the evening, is usually less crowded (Wollishofen, Enge).

I can personally say that Tiefenbrunnen on weekends is a no-no, on Fridays one can manage to get a decent distancing.

As the OP is from Aargau, I am tempted to suggest checking the Katzensee, but it's been a while since I last went there.

The Männerbadi in Zurich should be quiet today, it being the Sabbath.

Rapperswil Badi has limits on number people going in, but should be fine if you go early

Hallwilersee should be near you. You can also try along the Reuss river, say somewhere between Sins -> Bremgarten. Also nice there, if you have an inflatable.

Re: Bathing areas that are not crowded

Hi again, guys. I just want to give a huge thanks for all your helpfulness in this matter I am very happy with the amount of choices, and I wish I knew how to "give thanks" via the forum, so I could thank you all properly.

We ended up going to the Horgen-side of Zürisee - something called Sportbad Knäpfnach, and it was actually very nice, so I recommend that for sure. We will try some of the others over the summer, to see if we can find the perfect spot for our needs

Thanks a lot everyone

Re: Bathing areas that are not crowded

It's not very close to you, but if you're up for a short drive, there are bathing / beach areas all along Greifensee which don't always become too crowded (though probably less crowded during the week). We really like the beach area called Seebad Furren Greifensee, which also has a grill and lots of shady spots as well as bathrooms, a changing area and an outdoor shower.

https://www.badi-info.ch/furren.html

There is also a long dock there and a floating dock that you can swim out to.

There are also a few other beach and swimming areas just a few minutes walk away from there (and again, also around the entire lake).

Not that many quiet spots on the Silver Coast as far as I noticed but I wish OP good luck.
