For items owned for less than six months, you will be exposed to pay Swiss IVA.

You might find the unit is cheaper here. Look: www.toppreise.ch

If the value is higher than the allowable franchise (I think it's Fr. 200 per person), yes. If you can buy it at a store that will fill the Duty-Free/Tax-Refund/Global Blue form, you can return to the store after you imported the TV into Switzerland (e.g. the following time you visit Italy), and get the Italian VAT back (which is surely higher than the low 7.7% Swiss MWSt)

As a general rule, check prices at digitec first. Very very often technology is cheaper in Switzerland due to lower VAT. Counter intuitive maybe, but true

This is true. I also have noticed that electronic products are cheaper in Switzerland than bordering EU countries.

300.pp, and you can't bring a single item that costs more regardless of how many people are with you.

Italian VAT is 22%, so worth reclaiming, but still probably cheaper in Switzerland.

Well, you know, Amazon during prime sales can offer very competitive prices even compared to Digitec, that's why I am asking...
Thanks for toppreise.ch hint, very good deals indeed!

Depending on the price of the TV in Italy (considered with VAT for simplicity, since that is the price you usually see in the store):
- less than 155 euros: just buy it and cross the border
- between 155 and 339 euros (300*1.22 chf in eur): you get your Italian VAT back (22%, so 18% of the price you see), and you don't pay nothing at Swiss customs
- more than 339 euros: you get your Italian VAT back and you pay Swiss VAT (8%)

This is assuming that you will be crossing the border only with the TV. If you also bought a chewing gum for 1 eur - suddenly you have to pay VAT on that too
