I had my son's gaming desktop computer built by PC Specialist. The import duties are NOT included, and you have to pay them when you receive the package. In my case, the computer cost around Fr. 1600 (excluding accessories, monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc), and I paid around Fr. 150 in import duties and taxes. When I searched for options, it turned out to cost roughly the same, all included, as building it myself (buying a stock computer was not an option).

Edit: I logged in, and it cost exactly Fr. 1633.31...not far from my recollection.
I so far "built" two laptops on Pc Specialist one for 1864 and the other for 2030.
I was able to have 4TB storage, i7 10th gen. 32GB ram and nVidia RTX 2070 for both.

Where can I see the estimated import taxes for those prices?

My budget is 2000-2200 max. I need a laptop right now, as mine broke and I am left only with my desktop.
Among the other things, I use the laptop to write technical documentation in English only, so I'd prefer not to change the layout as this is what I am used to.
This mid-tier gaming configuration will only set you back Fr. 1700 + ca. Fr. 200 in import/duties, but it will take about 2 weeks to get to you:

Re: PC Specialist import taxes info

Wow didn't know about PC specialists! I also hate the Swiss keyboard due to a small left shift. On a US keyboard I just curl the left pinky to press shift but on the Swiss one I have to move the entire hand which is really hard to get used to...

There's a Zollrechner at www.auslandeinkauf.ch:

You should calculate:
- Fixed between Fr. 12 and 17.45 for paperwork (costs vary from courier to courier)
- Up 3% of net goods' cost for shipments from outisde of Germany, France, Italy or Austria (varies up to 0% depending on courier) add-on for paperwork
- Fixed Fr. 13.00 for package control (they open it and check that the declaration is accurate if it's missing or it's suspicious)
- 7.7% VAT on the declared cost of goods + shipping + the costs above

For a cost of Fr. 2000, you would pay a bit over Fr. 160 in costs.

More details here: https://auslandeinkauf.ch/index.php/...t-bestellungen

The image shows CHF 1558 ex VAT. and CHF 1678 incl 7.7% VAT.

O.K. got the answer. That is an all inclusive price. And no further custom handling charges from the courier is expected..

Plus any other charges such as Swiss VAT if not already included and customs charges

Translated from the .ch website:

The recipient is responsible for paying all import taxes and duties. Please note that we have no control over these charges and cannot predict their amount. Please contact your local customs office for more information before placing your order.
5.8 Please note that shipments to countries outside the UK may be subject to possible controls by your local customs authority."
If you actually proceed with a purchase they state that customs handling, shipping and, and Swiss VAT is included:

Then good luck as your options will be very limited.

I EXPECTED the invoice when the computer was delivered (e.g. the post charges you on the spot), but they rang and dropped the package without any invoice. So I was sure it would eventually come in the mail, which it did a few days later.

I usually never ship expensive stuff here, I ship to friends in Germany and then I collect, but this time they will be away 2months and I cannot wait so much, so I wanted to see whether this shipping was subject to taxes or not, which in the end it appears to be..

And they had already this claim which I posted above? I would be furiously mad if they state all inclusive, no additional charges expected just to be hammered with an additional CHF 210.

Apparently he bought it because he was convinced all taxes were taken care of.. It was kind of surprise to him :/
