Hi all.
I wasn't sure where to put this, so I'm dropping it here.
I'm based in Zurich, and converting my van into a basic campervan.
I would like to use it to camp in Switzerland, and surrounding countries.
Does anyone know of any sites that will take a home done camper?
Or somewhere I can just park up legally.
With fishing would be great.
Most sites I've come across are either just caravans, or tents.
Cheers.
Mick.

A very popular spot, because it is free and with water and toilets, is the one near Lac de Taillères, near La Brévine in the Canton of Neuchâtel.

We went camping at Campofelice two summers ago. It's a huge campground located in the Italian part of Switzerland, on the shore of Lake Maggiore, and I saw a few camper vans there. The one directly across from our spot was a van that had been turned into a camper. https://www.campofelice.ch/de/stellplatze
That campground also has various kinds of boats that you can rent as well as a long beach area.

You can also put campervans on the Camping in Fleurier, right next to the River Areuse, famous for brown trout fishing. You can get day permits, 10 day permits or monthly permits on-line or locally, and can fish from the riverbank at the campsite.

It was used as a camper before I bought it. Was insulated with something that held water, and covered with some sort of hessian cloth.
I'm stripping it out, and starting from scratch.
I will be taking lots of pictures all the way through the different stages.
Are you wanting details on the forum, or for yourself?

We also have plenty of space in our meadow, facing a field with cows and horses and woods at the back and near lots of good fishing spots. With added WCs and a kitchen, for a small fee (donation to our charity for the elderly). For camping or motorhomes.

I know someone who is / going to convert an old delivery van into a camper.
His first snag was extra seating in the rear for the kids. Has to be the approved ones, fortunately the van also came as a crew cab version so they were available.
Apparently this saved him a lot of hassle with the mfk.

| | | | | From a point of view of Swiss requirements, inspections, and part suppliers etc, some info on here, in one place, would probably be useful for others interested in doing the same thing.
It seems quite popular at the moment - there are loads of Youtube videos on the topic.

On the same subject and for campers who think they have limited locations to go in winter, my relatives have been on these camper dinners and love it, went to one with them the other night, great idea: www.wohnmobildinner.ch..
Most provide 'hook-ups' (electricity) and other services, meals are usually delivered to your camping abode.
