Re: What's your experience with digitec.ch?

Customer service almost non-existent, other than that they are fairly competent box shifters (no better or worse than Microspot et al).

I would be surprised if anyone expected customer service from digitec.ch after all. All they do is just check order number collect the payment and release the package. It is like going to the post office with slip found in the letter box and collecting your order. Never had expectations of them being on top of the game or being able to provide constructive advice

I only use them provided that I know what I want and checked beforehand that their price is somewhat more competitive by www.toppreise.ch listing.

Re: What's your experience with digitec.ch?

Hello, it is my first experience with Digitec and I am quite surprised that under Delivery options they state "Without delivery note or receipt".

Does this actually mean you are not receiving any receipt/purchase proof once you order through Digitec?

This is important to me since I would like to be able to use worldwide warranty which the product has, but it is only valid with receipt.

Re: What's your experience with digitec.ch?

Thats something at least... Thanks for the info!

The other thing that concernes me is the fact that warranty, which is included inside the box, has to be stamped by the shop to be valid.

Do you happen to know if Digitec stamps producers warranties?

If the warranty was to be used in other country, it requires stamp on it.

I bought two laptops from Digitec on different occasions and everything went smoothly, delivered within a couple of days. Would use them again.

AFAIK, it only means that they basically just dump the stuff to your front door.
You don't need to sign for it. Nor does anybody else.

I also have a problem with Digitec. When you pay & buy, every thing goes well but When you return a purchased good, service is not the same.

Recently I bought a portable PC. when received it I realized that it was too big & heavy for travel purposes. I did not even turn it on and decided to return it and exchange it for a smaller one. I tried to call them up for 2 days to ask how to proceed but without any result, all the phones were busy. After 2 days I sent several e-mails. Finally I got a response. I finally sent back the PC by post 10 days ago but still waiting to receive an information, an evaluation and / or a decision. The only mails I receive from Customer Service is full of apology but the verification process can wait up to 4 weeks.

It is really ridiculous because the verification can only take a few minutes since the PC has not even been turned on. I told them that due to my upcoming trip I was in hurry and needed a new portable PC lighter and smaller, but they didn't care less.

Regards

Josef

Good luck with that one!

I ordered a notebook on 24.11, received on 25. The notebook network card and one USB port weren't working. I sent it back to digitec on 26, they received it on 27th.

After 8 days and a lot of phone calls (gave up after 45min waiting in line, apparently calling early in the morning works better), emails (not answered) I was finally able to reach an operator and asked for a refund (the order wasn't even listed as service). She said ok and asked for an IBAN as they couldn't refund on the credit card (??). I asked for confirmation emails.

Nada.

The 9th day, by checking my customer account on their website, I see that they have sent me back a replacement notebook and sent the defective one to the manufacturer. Not at all what was discussed on the phone!

I called them back, complained that this is not what has been discussed and I don't want to ship the replacement notebook back. The operator (the same I had the previous day..they have only 2 operators??) confirmed that I'll be refunded, but this needs to be discussed with the customer department and takes 1-2 days.

I was in a hurry, too. As a client wanted to order 7 notebooks of that kind for his employees and I wanted to do tests before he bought them. Needless to say, we're looking for another solution.

So far, it's a mess. I don't know if I'll actually receive the replacement one, be refunded or not. Plus, as they have sent the notebook to the manufacturer for repair, they can charge me (up to the full price) if the manufacturer refuses the warranty.

Does anyone have a shop recommendation with good service?

Thanks in advance.

Re: What's your experience with digitec.ch?

Maybe I was just lucky then.

Ordered a bog-standard PC for work, had to return it as spec requirements changed in the meantime, gave them a call, got through after 5-10 mins waiting. Sent it back, got refund.

AFAIK, Apple is the only one that does their repairs themselves.
All others have outsourced it.
With Dell, you can at least get on-site replacements.

With Apple, after the third year of Apple Care has run out, you're out on your own.
Repairs will often be more expensive than the remaining value of the unit.

Also, as Apple doesn't do on-site replacements (and AFAIK it's not guaranteed that you get a replacement unit instead of a repair), if you absolutely have to have a replacement-unit, you either stock it yourselves or approach one of the various Apple Premium dealers that cater to business needs (for a price).

TL;DR version:
if you skimp on the price, manufacturers and subsequently dealers will skimp on service

Re: What's your experience with digitec.ch?

i always used digitec to buy pc components and has always been great, cheap, fast, something was broken once and service was great, no phone just emails.
Dell is great if having your computer not working can kill your business.

Thanks. We went for Apple as we found a good bargain, but Dell was high on the list, too.

As far as digitec goes, it is still a mess. It's been three weeks now that I placed this order and it is not sorted out. They managed to send back a replacement unit despite the previous agreement with the customer care.

After one week, they agreed to take it back and give the money back. 9 days later since they received the unit (for the second time), and no news.

On a side note for those who think that firing up an issue with the credit card might be a good idea; not really. Simply because it can take months before they decide what to do about the particular case. In the meanwhile, you have to pay.

I learned my lesson; don't be in a rush before Christmas..

Really? In which CC company are you? I'm with Viseca; received a letter that my case was open, that it could take months, that they would credit the money back if illegible, otherwise without further notice from their part, it's a deal done. I received the bill in the meanwhile and had to pay the full amount.

We have bought a number of things from Digitec over the last couple of years, and we have never had any problems with receiving, picking up, or the quality of the goods.

Mind you, I'm not saying that digitec is a bad company that should be avoided. I, too, bought countless things from them for over a decade and never had any issue, but never needed their customer care either.

The reason I'm sharing this experience - except to complain, which doesn't help, I admit - is that it brought to my awareness that such companies have a strong emphasis on selling, which is their first priority.

Having to wait over three weeks to get the money back and one week between email responds in such a rush period as Christmas, means that the task force is not in the customer care. Once again, I'm not saying this is bad, but I would have made a different choice (I was in a hurry for a customer) had I been aware of such lengthy response time.

I dread the day I buy something expensive from them that needs repair.
Like a 65" 4K TV.

One more reason to wait for a full-featured Apple TV with a screen (and not just a set-top box).

Digitec's prices are good, but as it's all Migros now, I assume there's hardly anything an individual employee can do for you or your "case".
Of course, having a completely disorganized RMA regime (as it apparently is) doesn't help either.

That's apparently exactly what is happening.

22 days after they received the item (DOA), I eventually was refunded..at the item price of the day, which has dropped by 200.- since I bought it.

One more complain and the difference was credited, but nothing about the credit card fee (2.5%) and the shipping costs (twice). Forget about a commercial gesture for the mess.

On a side note, Interdiscount offers similar prices, often has 10% days (like today 18th) and doesn't take credit card fees.

(So cozy it's almost an advertorial IMO. The reporter should have had a look at the RMA process - but Swiss people often dread the RMA process more than just buying something else, somewhere else...so it's understandable in a way...)

Digitec AG I would rate as the lousiest company I have dealt with in 2014. Make promises they do not keep. 20-30 minutes on hold on the telephone, then transfer one to a connection that is unattended so one can begin the 20-30 minutes phone cycle once more. Not for me thanks.
