The worst were when I had to be in the wedding party.

The best was at a castle in Italy where I was at the "weird friends" table seated next to Les Pattinson.

I wonder about Russian politics. Not in the US but elsewhere - Africa.

As people who work with children - teachers, educators, nannies, we suddenly became essential workers this year...
To be honest about my expectations, or hopes, rather...I hope that we become recognized as essential workers. Didn't really worked even for health workers, recently, they are still being worked to bones, often not seeing families for weeks, crazy shifts, exhaustion.. While CZ is reserving big portions of vaccines for teachers (all teachers being classed as high risk), considering how many of us got ill or are risking getting ill everyday, here schools are still considered places with low transmision (for kids. teachers ignored). I hope that changes when PPE becomes cheaper (we provide our own) and vaccines available.

Then I really hope to see family and close friends. I wouldn't want to put them in a higher risk, as it is now.

I expect my symphonies and rock band to pick up again.

I expect students to do really well, young people adjust marvelously to the challenges, I help them and cross fingers for them.

I expect people to get stronger on the new, tougher job market. Not being able to take anything for granted. I also expect companies to get less excited about home-office, people need proper real teams for intelligent productivity. I hope companies recognize that employees are asked now to foot a lot of company bills. I expect people to value more their personal life and limit the professional life, even on home office and constant work emails buzzing on our private cells.

I expect politics to be more careful about ambitious plans, people need to trust them again. Be listened to, like here in CH. EU will have to prove itself more, me thinks.

As an eternal optimist - I expect people to get healthier. World health threat has its silver lining, if there is any, people recognize how much health they have under their own control and that is good. I saw quite a few runners today.

I expect everyone while missing out on social activities, to turn inward a bit and befriend themselves and their inner world. Instead of the constant push for self branding for the outside world.

Re: What are your expectations for 2021?

My number one need, hope and expectation is that I will be able to go and visit my Mum. It was early January when I last saw her, at a family funeral, the second in a couple of months. Really brings home that we do not have too much time left, and to have missed a year (would have been 3 visits) is horrible. She is having increasing memory problems, advancing much too fast, I need to see her, and soon.

Other than that, as long as we can put food on the table and keep warm and safe and healthy, we will be fine.

China figured out it is much cheaper to buy a Biden than to buy a battleship that can actually pass a sea trials without cracking its hull.

Ditto on the U.S becoming a third world. Seattle is the canery in the coal mine. Neo-liberal policies are causing what they have always caused. Proof is in the pudding and we have more than a few puddings to sample from.

2020 was just the appetizer.

Fully agree. As they say, never let a crisis go to waste. The Great Reset has been in the making for years and 2020 was just the harbinger of what's to come.

Here's an excerpt from an article on stakeholder capitalism, one of the aspects of the Great Reset initiative:

The idea that corporations are magically going to focus less on profits and maximizing shareholder value, and instead focus more on improving the lot of all, sounds to some like a dream come true. We must keep in mind, however, that arriving at Stakeholder Capitalism ultimately involves the marriage of the State and Corporations — not unlike China’s State Capitalism today.

A study by KKS Advisors found that several hundred companies who were purportedly moving toward the stakeholder model, including some who signed on at the Business Roundtable, did not appear to show any real improvement when the health crisis hit. A lot of it, turns out, was just talk.

It will take a while before people interpret algorithms data in a useful way, though.

You mean to say it will be more of a "do as I say, not as I do" feudal system? How could we have seen that coming? Oh yeah, Comiefornia (see also NYC) and the great exodus may point to that. Rules for thee, not for me and for all to see. They dont even hide it anymore.

I hope that when Trump is kicked out he blows the largest whistle ever. Doubtful but possible. Then the rest of us can come out without living in fear. Its a deadly gig telling the truth these days, yet some people still cling to media like guns and bibles. The proper name would actually be: State sponsered info-tainment. Very similar to porn in regards to addiction and mental health problems according to several studies.

Motto for 2021:
"Get down, sit down, sit down and give up your rights." Bob Marley music is now terrorist music and we now Rage For the Machine.

Anyone who thinks differently will be rounded up and sent to re-education camps if people like A.O.C get their way. Be pre-paired to be electronically removed from "polite society" if you disagree with the agenda.

Godspeed to all.

So, in other words, you believe that it is your right to spread a potentially deadly virus and to play a role in worsening a pandemic?

Didn't Fauci invest millions into Wuhan for this plandemic? Yes he did, which is why he flip-flops so much for being such an esteemed doctor. Follow the money is always good advice.

Yes the virus is real, and we must be sensible about it but this is no accident, only the start. The Trojan Horse for this:

Learn to believe your own eyes. Look around and dont be fooled by randomness because there is no such thing as a true black swan. Only white swans that have been painted black. How do I know this? I may or may not have black paint on my hands. See above post about whistleblowing. Nothing to see here, move along.

Agree with you.

I expect that 2021 will be even better than 2020. In 2020, the daughter I’ve spent my adult life bringing-up as a single / single income Mom passed her Masters in a subject with a good future with honors, and moved from our two person home of the past 16 years into another beautiful home she has ‘built’ together with a partner she loves (and who loves her) 😉.

Also expect that the sh*t I’ve have to put-up with from my past employers since moving here in 1986 will now have an end, according to really good redundancy package I could negotiate at age 57. I expect that my early retirement at age 58 will be a new and fulfilling journey - finally, my life will be what I make of it, and not up to the whims of others (if I do it responsibly / well).

Not sure if I will be able to keep those vacation plans booked and cancelled on a Danish Island from last spring, but can still hope that it’s possible around October this year.

My expectations are also that enough people start to get out of Zurich so that forest walks here return to the idyll they were before Corona.

Back to topic

Apart from my earlier posted biggest wish/expectation for 2021, there's a teeny tiny other one:

I'd like to meet people where I live now......2.5 yrs here and starting to feel kinda lonely. Funny really, I feel like some Expats must feel at times.

I also dearly miss to have a good chinwag in English.
