5k is on the low side.
So what are you looking to buy?

P.S. and a couple Schecters that I built when when I was a Schecter and Seymour Duncan dealer! | | | | | Wow, that is awesome - seriously jealous. I have a '68 Harmony Bobkat which is my favorite, but couldn't afford yours.
5,000 is on the high side of what I am willing to pay now if I still want to remain married. Would prefer not to drop more than 2 if I can...
P.S. I had posted in one of the earlier comments what I was in the market for, a Jag is one of them. | This user would like to thank Susie-Q for this useful post:

I'm open to testing the same make in a shop first and then buying online. |

I really liked the musical shop in Rapperswil, Rappi Musig/Musikhaus. We've got our ukulele and 2 electric guitars some time ago from there. Very friendly staff. The acoustic ones that we have were bought in the USA by my OH, great stuff we have but I think I already bragged about it on EF.
So I'd recommend them though I haven't been there for quite some time now https://www.rappimusig.ch
There's also this one in Pfäffikon SZ https://www.seedamm-music.com | This user would like to thank greenmount for this useful post:

I was lucky enough to get my last guitar from Jecklin music, and it was a lovely experience. I told them my budget up front, the sales assistant brought in seven different guitars that were on or just below my budget, and left me to just play them for about half an hour - and was available in one of the nearby rooms if I had questions. In the end I got one for exactly the amount of my budget, although it was listed as 70% above that - since it had been on their shelf for five years (a Larrivée electric-acoustic with a beautiful sound).
Sadly, Jecklin aren't around in Zurich any more - I think they were absorbed by Music Hug, and the guitar section there is sub-standard (as at least one other has reported in this thread). They seem to focus mainly on pianos, sheet music, and CDs.
Another place in which I have had a good experience is Central Music (also in Zurich), where they have a large selection of guitars. The staff need to get them down for you (according to their signs), and tend to hover (rather than the more relaxed approach at Jecklin so many years ago) yet the quality, range, and price are okay.

I was in Gitarren Total this afternoon, they only have two Martins in the store as they say that the supply has been reduced due to C19. They have some nice Gibson J45s and Hummingbirds and of course plenty of Fenders etc. Still a great shop but its high end, you wont see much below chf 2000

I forgot to mention that I did play their Martin O18 and it was stunning and fun to play, essentially it is a parlour but doesn't feel like a toy. I was tempted but at chf 3500 thats too much for a parlour / travel / couch guitar.
I already have a Martin OM28. I do need a parlour but I have already bought and sold three, I never really like the nut width.
The Martins are due back in Gitarren Total in May / June.
