Child car seat in the front (not baby group 0)

Hi. Thx for answers.

I am going to have a Smart.

So, having a ChildSeat group0 (baby) has to be mounted backwards and airbag has to be turned Off.

The question is group1 and onwards (not baby) they are faced forward. From all the search i am doing, it seems to be that airbag doesnt have to be turned Off (might actually be better let them On).

Can someone confirm this? Thx

Can't you get the 4 seat version? Much safer to have the child in the back.

Re: Child car seat in the front (not baby group 0)

In principle children are allowed to sit on the front passenger seat regardless of their age. If your car is equipped with airbags, rear-facing car seats may only be used if the front airbag on the passengerís side is deactivated.

Having said that, there is an additional danger if the front airbag does deploy, so if you can't deactivate it then put the seat as far back as possible.

There is an opportunity here for a device to prevent the airbag deploying come-what-may on the passenger side.

Any engineering people the forum like to comment.
