Plus an ex mod who had his ski rental apartments in his signature & mentioned them on numerous occasions.

Members with a good memory & GoBackMachine however does not forget

Several troublemakers self deleted 2 years ago, then returned as trouble makers & now threaten to self delete again. Nothing to do with being forgotten, just causing trouble.
Members are entitled to delete their accounts if they so choose.
Trouble makers get banned.

I'd sincerely advise you to learn the difference before making any further defamatory statements regarding professional people in Switzerland, and before making any further statements that could or would compromise their privacy.

Asking how to self delete when you clearly knew the answer is a perfect example
I literally groaned at your posts on this FMF. One concise statement would have sufficed. In fact, you never did explicitly answer the question and only contributed to stirring if you want to use that expression. I'm not sure your authority as a mod and your personal views are mixing well.

This has been argued before on the basis of poorly written legal commentary that wasn't designed to cover EU citizens living outwith the EU..

But basically clearly not. An EU court doesn't have legal jurisdiction over a foreign company operating in a foreign land.

That one’s not even in the same league. It’s only reached 4 pages and it’s an older thread.

If you are truly a doctor then you either put it on the doorbell or you don’t, but if you are not a doctor then it’s rather clear.

If you decide to exit then you exit and it’s finito. Otherwise it’s gonna be just as long as the Brexit itself!

Just looking at the posts you have liked or groaned in this thread should give you the answer. You love to stir the pot.
Hmmm, pot, kettle, black

You don't groan as much since being a mod, but your favouritism is quite obvious FMF with your superfluous thank-yous on subjects you should perhaps be more neutral about.

But really, who cares - it is sunny outside, we should be enjoying that more instead.

If I like a post I am open about it, seems the same with other posters. I often like both sides of a discussion if I believe that individual post has merit.

I even have liked some posts from CHUFF even before I was a mod, I don't see CHUFF as a favourite!

English Forum has chosen that its User Agreement, which we all agree to comply with when we join, "shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sweden" so local Swiss laws are not relevant when we ask EF to delete posts.

Can you see any posts by Ace1 or 22yards now? Under the title ‘guest’ obviously.
Nope because they have all been deleted along with all the PMs they’d sent.

A user can request that everything they ever wrote on EF be deleted if they so choose.
Of course you can. This post is by 22 shallNotBeNamed for instance, see the "edited" note at the bottom.

Re: Deleting My Account

FWIW, I hate this thing about changing a username to "Guest" for people who’ve left the forum. If someone really wants to leave that’s fair enough but it’s nonsensical to leave all their posts intact without a name attached. It turns many interesting discussions into a total mess as you’ve no idea who’s saying what. Also, there are one or two departed posters whose body of work I’d occasionally like to review, which I can’t. It’s a shame when someone leaves but an even bigger shame to see their footprints washed away as if they never really existed.

However, you probably need to differentiate between private people and businesses. Advertising your business, even if it means publishing your name for instance, or a certain B&B chalet, may not be protectable.

hi Jim2007

I have enjoyed some of your posts over the years. I do hope you change your mind and do not delete your account. At least may I suggest you can ignore EF for a year then decide.
Such a shame otherwise, all your previous posts will show as 'guest'.

All the best

After 14 years, it is with a certain amount of sadness, I have decided to delete my account.

There are all kinds of people here, some educate and inform, some make me laugh, some make me shake my head and some annoy me for a few minutes. But there is one thing that keeps me annoyed - racism in any format.

In the past 24 hours, a member with a reputation for being contraversal posted a blatant racist statement. The post was deleted and the poster goes on his merry way to sin again...

After all that has gone on around the world over the past few months, the fact that the mods seem to feel continuing to enable this kind of behaviour is acceptable, is beyond me and I have decided that a community moderated in such a style is one I no longer want to be a member of.

Good luck Jim, out in the real world.

Have you actually written to Editor Bob? Or are you posting this in the hope that someone will delete you?
It is Editor James these days.

I guess that makes ennui’s question earlier in the thread rather more pertinent and FMF owes her an apology.

I don't think FMF owes an apology seeing as Editor Bob was active yesterday, at the time of the question the information was valid.

There was no need for him to behave like a dick about it though.
A straight answer to a simple question would have sufficed.
It wasn’t an unreasonable question given all the changes that have gone on around here.
