So Marton, how's school today? Were you doing some reading or what
How many times a teacher has to draw you, how : yes you have glutamic acid in tomatoes and in our food but it is in its natural form with other molecules ... Once you create the molecule in a lab then you sprinkle it on your food, it has a much more potency and it creates a huge reaction in the body. (even when we are unaware of it.. that's why when you eat chips you cant stop, when you eat cookies, biscuits, sauces, bread mixures...) and you always want more and more.
Then what I can suggest you for after-school acitivity is to sit down and think:
I go to Italy , I eat, gnocci, lasagna, parmigianna, marinara... do they open the Vetsin, maggi the ajinomoto magic? no.
Then you go to Greece... you eat dolmas, moussaka etc.do they add msg? no
Turkey,Spain etc..
It's is also true how the industry has been pushing their msg in our cooking and beef stock, chicken stock all that is msg loaded to a certain degree.
This is why so many chefs, restaurants are never using those chemical mixtures (in liquid or powdery form) and they're openly against it.
Now that we consume so much of processed flower(just like that sugar), glyphosate and the whole cocktail, cant really see the necessity.
On the other hand, that -groan msg squad- can always use as much as msg they want, I'm also aware I'm consuming it and I'm conscious about it.
The industry of course is not going to tell you it is bad bad. Just like for hydrogenated oil-margarine till the last drop they fought and margarine is still on the market except being banned in some places. | | | | | Tomatoes are chockful of glutamates, lending that incredible depth of umami flavor to any dish. Tomatoes are popular in Italian cuisine, used raw and sliced in antipasti dishes, and cooked down into delicious savory richness in sauces.

Maternal neglect? That is a different topic unless you have something you really need to share? | | | | | Excuse my misinterpretation. Thought you appreciated your mother’s efforts and seriously didn’t want to impinge on whatever circumstances.
Current understanding: your mother didn’t cook much and due to early/frequent exposure to eating out you can impartially judge restaurant quality. The few unfortunates who couldn’t avoid home cooking, however, aren’t capable of determining the true “gold standard” because they’ve been well and truly spoiled?

I just came in here after an afternoon in the sun and a few glasses of wine and I don’t know what the heck is going on.
Cheers everyone! May you have a nice evening and not such a bad hangover tomorrow.
All the best - I actually think this thread is quite healthy, a bit like forcing people into family therapy, except we aren’t family and we don’t have to pay the big bill afterwards. | The following 5 users would like to thank Susie-Q for this useful post: | |

It's not rare, we grew it, everybody dors back home. I was gonna write it when I wrote about magic čubrica just did not know how to write "libeček" in English. Lovage?
I have been cooking with this for a few years:
It is not bad, natural.
What you wrote about formulaic posting, yes, indeed. Strategies. But then most comm is formulaic, it's only easier to see online because it is written. And then you can spice it up with virtual msg aka emojis

How are we today
Well well, I got worried, seemed how few people here got scared I'll get the msg out of food, I had a look if there's some danger , looks all good , mark youselves -safe- https://i.postimg.cc/m2kMKWy6/Screen...t-10-20-41.png
MusicChick , how dare you use the that dried herb when you can go and by maggi
Why flavour your soup with that when you can go and add few drops of Aromat ((eau, protéine de froment, sel), eau, arôme, exhausteur de goût (glutamate de monosodique, inosinate disodique), sel ?? why spoil the dish and your organism/health with just one dry herb when you can get yourself a nice dose of cute synthetic chemicals and ton of salt, here we have even a triple dose of msg!
just one msg is for losers
I was even thinking of what Marton said..italians eat tomato sauce.. why even bother eating the tomato ? I've seen how there's the tomato flavor produced synthetically , just buy the powder and you dont have to even bother buying them, cutting them..

This week I was out of town and driving back I was so worried how once I come back I wont be able to fit in ever again in this topic , it was hard to adjust, , I put in a lot of effort and there I was ordering el triple de dos tequilas and fighting here prejudice, investigation about me and my coming out, editor bob disappearing, the highly disputed r-word, feminism, men sufferance, msg, .... the lesson is , never give up on your dream
One thing did strike me..people would fight hard and get angry because someone says how an added chemical just for a flavor is no good but are fine with walking around with plastic on their mouth and face in summer including children and they'd never fight that.

yes but on the thread where they can, they dont. You see what I mean?
My sentence was a general observation. It looks as if people have build up of emotions, covid summer, fear, waiting for the better and then someone says "hey that corn sugar you put i the drink - no good" wow all of a sudden here's the enemy! burn her, how dare she say that )

I feel compassion for those who are following this thread but never participating
must be really hard , cause probably they have their top3 , then they have some stuff to do ,they're out of focus then need to catch up!! then their fave turns into the baddie .. or they love one of us then we say some crap and then they're in a meltdown This topic is like a Series and we're in season 6, ep 02 .
