Customs Buying Ebike

Planning to buy an ebike, collecting from the shop directly in Germany who will refunds my the German VAT once its stamped as an export

Just a quick question on the customs process.

At the boarder, should I go into the German side and get the invoice stamped as an export to Switzerland and then after that do I have to go to the Swiss office to pay the Swiss VAT?

Is that how it goes? or do I need to visit both at all?

Pretty much, yes.
Going to Germans to stamp the invoice is optional, but you definitely want to do it, going to Swiss to pay the VAT is mandatory

You can also pay in advance with QuickZoll app, then you don't need to stop

Yes, the bike shop will refund me the German VAT once I have that stamped for export, which I presume the German side does.

I will use the quickzoll app for the Swiss side

So only stopping at the German side will be required it seems

What bike is it? Can't you choose a retailer that deals with the VAT and ships?

an Ebike, not too far over the border and EUR 190 for shipping so easier to pop over and get it
