| | Where should we go today?
Husband and I woke up feeling like we should get out of town …
Any good suggestions that are 1.5 hours by train max from Bern?
We just feel like walking about / enjoying some nice scenery and having a good meal or two.
Thanks!

If it's not too late... Maybe Lake Lucerne? There is also a really nice thermal bad over there (though maybe it's best to go there in the evening when it's less crowded).
Whatever you end up doing, I hope you guys have a wonderful day! | The following 3 users would like to thank Pancakes for this useful post:

How about taking a train to the charming town of Thun? It's only a hop, skip, and a jump away, and it's got all the quaint charm you could ever want. Plus, there's a castle! Who doesn't love a good castle?
Or if you're feeling a bit more adventurous, why not head to Interlaken? It's the perfect place to hike, bike, or paraglide your way to an adrenaline rush. And if you're feeling really daring, you can even try your hand at yodeling. Just don't blame me if you shatter a few eardrums.
And if you who prefer a more laid-back approach, Fribourg is the place to be. With its narrow streets and stunning architecture, you'll feel like you've stepped back in time. Just don't forget to bring your monocle and top hat.

I love a walk around the lake at Spiez and then have dinner at Belvedere. https://www.belvedere-spiez.ch/kulin...IaAtKBEALw_wcB | The following 3 users would like to thank Downerbuzz for this useful post:

Thun is nice, but Interlaken has become more like downtown Bombay with all the Asian restaurants and shops catering to the tourist trade !
Only any use as a starting point for hiking or Jungfrau, the town itself is crappy.

I recommend restaurant Dampschiff - nothing beats an excellent meal and local beer with a view after a pleasant cycling trip: https://www.dampfschiff-thun.ch/de/
Fribourg is a good idea!

Zug welcomes you, just under 2 hours away and we have a lovely lake and mountain to explore.

For next time the walled town of Murten/Morat. About an hour on the train. A real hidden gem.

Would never correct someone's spelling- but just in case someone wants to Google it- it is Murten (Morat in French) and yes, a gem. Make sure you walk on the city walls too. Even better, go to Neuchâtel and take the boat to Morat <3 a lovely journey.

Ah thanks, I thought so.
Yes, love it. Even better, as said above, with the boat across lake Neuchâtel, up the Canal and across Lake Murten... especially Le Neuchâtel, the recently refurbished paddle steamer.
