| | Got my trottinette stolen, then found it on Facebook
Hello.
Yesteday someone cut the chain of my trottinette and stole it.
Luckily I had insurance and they replace it promptly.
Today I found it on fb Marketplace for sale. I can't prove it of course, but I know it's mine. I made some modifications and they are all there.
The profile is fake and full of trottinettes and other stolen stuff, classic 'professional' thief.
What should I do?
Is going to the police any useful?
Will I have to "repay" the replacement trottinette that I got if the guy gets caught? I could return it but it's now used.
I have a strong temptation to meet him as a potential customer and just beat the shit out of him with a wrench, but i am a pacific and nice guy, just hope he'll spent all the revenue on my trottinette in medicines

Go to the Police and explain. Maybe they'll surprise us all and do something useful.

I agree with Phil_MCR... Go to the police. It can't hurt. And I'm sure you're not the first person that this has happened to. Do you have any records and/or photos to help prove that the one on FB is yours?
Good luck!

Go to the police. They may be more interested in the facebook profile than a stolen trotti - however painful to you. Reminds me to take a photo of my ebike.
If you get it back undamaged, then inform the insurance company. I have no idea what they will do.

Yes, go to the police.
My son was scammed on Ricardo - he went to the police and they followed it right through to the point where the guy skipped the country and they tracked him back to Italy.
If he tries to come in again and registers to work (he was doing some sort of manual work in Switzerland) - the police will track him down....

Inform your insuance company/Rep. as well. They like to get some money back and go at it strongly.
Good luck

GREG | | | | | This should actually be the first thing. The trottinette is probably theirs now, and it's easier for OP anyways.
OP, if you have pictures showing the modifications, that would help immensely.

Tom, please do explain your groan against a factual statement made by someone who knows Swiss law.

I suppose the same is for a post which many people disagree with.

Thanks for taking this thread off-topic Tom1234. I should be annoyed but I am much more annoyed by electric scooters. May all electric scooters be stolen and disappear from this country!
