Birkenstock Sandals?

Anyone know these shoes "Birkenstock" ? Where I can buy some ?

I'm heading back to Canada in 3 days for a vacation. Before I left for Switzerland my dog (Border Collie) tore apart two pairs of my Mom's Betula-brand Birkenstock-style Sandals she got from my Aunt here in Switzerland... and I'm thinking if I got her replacements she would really like them.

Only thing is I search for Birkenstock Zurich, Betula Zurich, Birkenstock Switzerland, Orthopädische Schuhe, and such...even looking on the Betula website but I can't find exactly where they sell them. I know the original pair were bought in Switzerland but I called my aunt and the ones she bought my mom (which were in fact also replacements) were actually bought in Italy just past Lugano.

From what I gather Betula are a cheaper copy of Birkenstocks, if I could find either or in or around the Zurich area that would be ideal.

Times running out. I work tonight and tommorow, then I get Monday off before I leave on Tuesday. Monday I have to go to Appenzell so that removes a trip to Italy.

You could also try calling Hausmann in Zürich, this link:

they might have what you need. They specialize in orthopaedics. I know they have shoes, I just can't recall whether they are Birkenstocks. Anyway, there's always someone there who speaks English!

Then, after you've bought your sandals from the aforementioned suppliers, you might be needing these: http://www.quelle.ch/ch/q4r/home/suc...&action=search

Re: Birkenstock Sandals?

This thread is kind of old, but does anyone have up-to-date info on where in Zurich to get lovely Birkenstocks?

I'm madly in love with the gladiator style, but want to try them on before I buy. I've become a foot-health fetishist, as my feet are a broken and sad disaster area, racked with pain, and Birkenstocks are my new best friend. I highly recommend them, and they are not 'ugly' or 'uncool' but rather a beautiful expression of love for your feet and should be appreciated as such and not maligned as they currently are. Pah, on your beautiful Manolo Blahniks which make you appear like a sylph-like, gazelle, yay for sensible German cork soles that provide excellent in-step support while making you resemble a squat hiker and naturist with penchant for black bread and lentil salad.

Re: Birkenstock Sandals?

I don't try them on, but every two years or so I order a new pair from here and have always been satisfied.

Brilliant! Thanks. And of course you were satisfied, the feeling of satisfaction that only comes with smugly watching people in flip-flops and thinking, "Ah, they look good now, but in ten years you'll have feet like malformed pig trotters." Seriously, I'm obsessed with foot health. It's not normal. I need help.
