Trading Standards Equivalent?

Hi,

Does anyone know if there is an equivalent of Trading Standards in Switzerland?

In the UK, Trading Standards are run by local councils and are responsible for enforcing legislation controlling the quantity, quality, price, description, and safety of most goods and services. If for example a pub is selling short measures, they can expect a covert visit from the local trading standards office, who will order a drink then pull out a measuring jug from his briefcase.

The case I just read in another thread about a lady ordering a veggie pizza and getting one with ham on it could also incur a visit if she reported it to Trading Standards.

I've found http://www.konsumentenschutz.ch/ but this is a Stiftung rather than a body carrying legal status.

Just curious to know.

Cheers,
Nick

Hi Nick,

There are several depending on where you are. Note it is not setup as in the UK so your aforementioned charity actually has power here.

Try also www.konsum.ch.

The governing body for all of this is www.konsum.admin.ch which as typical for Switzerland is only have in English...
