Nothing that I know of- though I'd love the answer to this as well. Its a bit sad to be sitting at home eating yesterday's pasta on Divali!

Hi,

The local ISKCON Temple (Bergstrasse) has the daily Aarti at 19.00... and the Diwali celebrations are only on the weekend. If nothing else, then plan to go for this tmrw evening at least. Maybe you could come too.

Kya yarr, office mein bahut bura lag raha hai. No celebrations, I'll go home early today. I'll cook some north Indian stuff (Halua & poori).

Re: Diwali Celebrations in Zurich on 28.10.08?

Happy Diwali to everyone :c)

Hmmm... with some amount of planning and forethought, we could organize something next Diwali! At least an informal get-together to celebrate the festival on the day itself... rather than later :c(

For today, the only really 'Diwali' feeling place would be the ISKCON Temple... For those of you who might be interested to visit:

Address: Bergstrasse 54
Tram 5 oder 6 (Richtung Zoo) bis Kirche Fluntern und dann Bus 33 bis Hofstrasse. It's a 2-min walk from this bus-stop, just follow the road in the direction the bus takes after you get off, and the building is a big house on the right, right next to the OGILVY office.

Program:
19:00 Gaura-arati: kleine Abendzeremonie.
19:30 Bhagavad-gita-Vorlesung

Re: Diwali Celebrations in Zurich on 28.10.08?

I prefer my divali with more food, and fireworks and less religion. My mother tried, she really did- but it didn't take!

That said, I'm totally up for a potluck. No fireworks, but we can celebrate with food!

Yeah, potluck next year would be great; I used to organise one back in Vancouver.

Anyways, if anyone has completely nothing to do tonight, they are welcome to join me and some friends for a Diwali dinner at an Indian restaurant. PM me for details.

Cheers,
HB

Perhaps you could ask the Indian Association of Zürich. There don't seem to be any events planned for October according to their website:
