getting firewood delivered to home in Zurich

Hi,

Does anyone know of a service where they deliver firewood to your home in zurich city? I tried the online shops of coop and migros and neither do. I don't want a truck load. Just a few bundles that I can't quite manage to lug up trams from the Coop Bau and Hobby.

Thanks.

~ Nanda.

Re: getting firewood delivered to home in Zurich

We contacted our local Forstamt (Forest official!) from the phone book (Thalwil). They deliver by the ster (a cubic metre) and you can choose the length (we went for 30cms) and the type and age of the wood.

Be warned, they turn up with it loose on the back of truck and just chuck the stuff out, so you need something/somewhere near the road to collect it...

Thanks Ab Fab. But we don't have place to store a truck-load, just bundles. You can get these bundles in coop bau and hobby places but unfortunately not a delivery service (unless I've missed something).

Re: getting firewood delivered to home in Zurich

I am assuming that delivery won't be free??? If delivery is not free then why not use the delivery money to take a taxi from Coop/Migros?
This coming from someone who does not have a fireplace and uses digital fire (fire DVD) :-O I know I am cheap Decided to get a huge screen instead

Not in Zurich but near Winterthur. I got my wood delivered from these chaps the last few times. Might be helpful for others in terms of pricing levels though
