Ebay.CH - I get good bargains on small tickets item especially around where I live and can easily pick them up to save on postage costs.

Re: Ebay.ch or Ricardo.ch

Ricardo.ch: Bigger offer and thats all what counts. Althoug the best bargains are IMHO at ebay.DE

Most will send to Switzerland and even the customs and tax still leave some good bargains.

Ricardo seems to be the site in Switzerland by far.

Ricardo only because I don't have to worry about taxes etc.. however I really hate the fact that the auction end time keep changing, which means you could be in a bidding war which lasts all night.

Re: Ebay.ch or Ricardo.ch

Ebay.Ch being far less popular, is a great site for buyers. I got an Espirit handbag for CHF 1/- last week and a Philips ID937 phone for CHF 8/- delivered the week earlier.

I think they are trying to be ultra-realistic, however not even a Sotherby's or Christies auction would last more than 5 minutes but with Ricardo it can drag on for hours because someone upped the bid by 50 rappen

Ricardo because they have a choice of language French & German. Ebay.ch is only in German of which I understand Zilch.

Neither do I but I get by using Ebay Australia as an interface to Ebay.ch - I also learn a lot of new German words along the way ( using Google Translate ).

I currently deal with Ricardo.ch. And, have had nothing but luck. Perhaps my luck will change someday... who knows.

FYI, here is a brief post about my experiences about eBay and PayPal.

Yeah, but it stops people sniping the auction (i.e.: one higher bid, a split-second before the auction ends). If I was selling an item, I'd want that too.

The whole approach to bidding in Switzerland seems different from the UK. People start bidding as soon as the item goes on sale and if something is going to be sold it has normally pretty much founds its price 1 day before the end. Of course there may be hotly contested items, but I never seem to be selling those :-( Ironically this would mean the automatic extension would be less relevant. Sellers often put ludicrously high starting prices, like 70% of what they paid for it 2-3 years ago.

Re: Ebay.ch or Ricardo.ch

You receive an electronic bill when you log on to www.ricardo.ch

A good point about Ricardo.ch is that you have to register, and your first password is posted to you. I think this must keep the active criminals away, as you can always be traced in Switzerland from your last known address.

The endings make me mad too, for that I prefer www.ebay.de , but the postage and customs fees can be heavy.

in Switzerland, definitely Riccardo. Most results from ebay are actually from Germany and can involve heavy shipping fees as well as custom duties!

and for those of you speaking german, there is also a Swiss site called Piazza where you can post classifieds for free. Definitely an alternative to consider when you are planning to sell something...

Re: Ebay.ch or Ricardo.ch

Can't be bothered with e-bay.ch. The simple fact that Ebay doesn't get that Switzerland has 3 languages irritates me. When I use it, I go directly to .fr or to .com...

Ricardo is OK... not that I find much on it, and selling stuff on it require a lot of time (posting, follow-up, discussing... shipping...), so methinks I'll come over here it the adds posts.

Re: Ebay.ch or Ricardo.ch

I think Ricardo is more useful because you're more likely to find what you're looking for. But it's always good to check at ebay.ch because sometimes there are some great deals.
