Need "official translation" to French

Hello -

I need to have some documents "officially translated" for my application for a French visa. Where might I be able to have this done?

(I have no idea what an "official translation" might be, but knowing the French I assume I can't just translate them myself or have someone else translate them. I'm guessing anyone who translates and can put one of those stamps that the French love so much somewhere on the document would serve as "official.")

The French embassy will be able to provide you with a list of translators, failing that your gemeinde will also have a list.

Re: Need "official translation" to French

I needed one of these once too, but it was a very long time ago. Any old translator will not do, if it is for official French Administration purposes. You have to have the proper stamp.

I've just googled on "traduction officielle" in google.fr and got a load of sites. That's my best suggestion.
