FedEx / TNT - from Zurich

I'm trying to send a package to Zambia, for the second time now. The first time I sent it with the Global "Priority" option (not TNT) from the Post Office. It's now 2.5 months later and the package never arrived (estimated was max 10 working days). Luckily everything inside was replaceable, so now I'm sitting here with package #2 and weighing the options...

I was thinking of FedEx even though it's expensive (but at least I know it will arrive), but it seems like a real mess sending anything with FedEx in Switzerland (I don't have a personal FedEx account which I see you need to "apply for"). I saw on their site that they have a "dropoff" location at the Zurich Airport, does anyone know what that means? Can I go there and "ship" it (pay for it etc) or how does this dropoff location work? I guess I'm used to the US where I just go to the nearest FedEx office and get it done so to speak.

Also, question #2. Does anyone have any info on how reliable TNT is when sending from the Post office? I see they have a "Global Urgent" option which I guess would work, but I'm a bit wary of sending anything with the Swiss post to Zambia after the last "failure". But as it's handled by TNT I'm wondering if I might get luckier and it's more professional than regular post, and it's much easier than dealing with FedEx of course.

Grateful for any insight into the above 2 items, thanks!

Re: FedEx / TNT - from Zurich

Bumping this (almost 1 year to the day...) as I could use the same information. Is the FedEx location at ZRH a staffed location where I can just show up and ship something -- or is it just a dropoff for those with FedEx accounts.

Thanks for any info!

FEDEX outlet at ZRH Airport ( owned and operated by someone else, not FEDEX ) is staffed and only accepts small packages and documents. They refused a 5kg package, so I guess packages must be really small and light to be accepted at that drop off outlet.

All accepted documents and packages are then sent to Fedex at Glattbrugg once daily. The outlet even encourages you to go there and drop it off at Glattbrugg.

Swissport Ticket Center

Thanks! (I'd give an "official" thanks, but I don't have enough posts yet, I guess...)

FedEx locations in Zurich

Is this information still accurate --- it's been a few years since this thread was active.

I'm needing to send some documents via Fed Ex from Zurich and want to know where I can drop them off.

A google search doesn't tell me if the places I've found are staffed or working stations.

Why don't you just give Fedex a call?

Re: FedEx / TNT - from Zurich

Looks like the site has been updated/changed:

https://www.fedex.com/locate/index.html?locale=en_CH

Put in Zurich and tick the box for staffed location. Looks like the only one close to Zurich proper is in Glattbrugg. It seems the only drop off box is at the airport.

Re: FedEx / TNT - from Zurich

Yes, the Glattbrug(Feldeggstrasse 3, 8152 Opfikon, Switzerland) location worked for me to overnight some documents to the US in May.

One wrinkle. KEEP YOUR RECEIPT FOR PAYMENT!!!

I paid with my debit card for the entire cost of sending a light enveloped with several pages of paper inside (~70chf). Ac few weeks later, I got a bill from Fedex claiming that I owed exactly the amount, as if I had never paid. Now I have to bother with contesting a bill I already paid. Luckily, I didn't pay cash and I can pull up my UBS record to show proof.

Just a follow up here and another reminder to keep your receipt for payment. It took several emails with Fedex and sending them scanned copies of the payment receipt. Only after that did they stop sending me potential collection emails and close the case.
