Re: How does moving out-moving in works in switzerland?
Date passed from original poster but I had to do this back in March.
Simple answer is expect a VERY long day!
At minimum you move out early, cleaners move in. Mean while where you are moving should be doing the same thing.
Exchange about noon (ish) and then you move in hoping you don't have the seemingly typical Swiss niggle about how something was or was not cleaned..
I went from one side of Zurich to other and was advised in advance by bods in office, pack everything in days before so minimum needed done on day. Get removal (I wanted to hire a man and a van but ended up hiring an Avis van and got two helpers from work instead in my case) to turn up really early. Whatever you do get the cleaning company (no Swiss seems to accept anyone especially not some bloke from UK can clean anything) to arrive early and get the landlord or agent to be there as well to confirm what needs done. If some thing obviously needs done do them before hand. Do floors last obviously just after kitchen/bathroom. I had to paint one small patch of wall due to something leaking from a bag and it stained wall, I did that w/e before.
For me moving out of a 2 room apartment and into a 1 1/2 room huge open plan studio. I moved no furnature though but 2 bikes, TV, PC, 3 bags so not a one man carry.
The very first time was a lot less gear and from a serviced apartment and I never had to worry about cleaning etc, either.
Whatever you do plan it. As I was advised and found out as cost more remember everyone else tends to move same day so all the removals and van hires get booked weeks in advance.
Seems some places will let you move some stuff early or late.
