Where to find potting soil/compost in Zurich?

Maybe I just don't know the right word (Topferde?), but I've had a hell of a time trying to find potting compost here in Zurich. I don't need loads - I'm just looking to repot a couple of plants, and plant a few herbs and things.

Any suggestions?

Just pop into any garden centre, coop or Migro!

I've tried the Migros at Brunaupark, and the DoIt+Garden one in Spreitenbach - but neither seemed to have it, and when I asked, the staff just directed me to the fertilisers.

Is there a garden center in Zurich you'd recommend?

I always use the one in Langnau am Albis just behind the railway station!

Re: Where to find potting soil/compost in Zurich?

For herbs, I use Krauter/Aussatzerde, as most like a sandy soil.

For flowering potted plants that will live outside, I use either Balkon und Kubelpflanzenerde (Potting soil, more or less) or Blumenerde.

If your plants need acidic soil, you probably want Moorbeeterde.

For Geraniums, there is (of course) Geraniumerde. For roses, Rosenerde.

For inside plants, there is Zimmerpflanzenerde. There is special dirt for Tomatoes, for citrus plants, for cactus, for orchids, for seeding grass... you name it. There is even Graberde for planting in the cemetery.

Of course you could also do it the easy way and just get Universalerde - and add in the appropriate fertilizers, vermiculite, or extras yourself.

And compost is... Kompost. (Or you can make your own... )

(There may only be one flavor of crisps available here in CH, but by golly you are spoiled for choice when it comes to dirt...)

---

Coop Bau and Hobby have a large selection, as will any garden center. If you fancy a trip out of the city, this is a huge garden center in Tann-Ruti:

FYI, Universalerde at the Landi is only CHF 2.90 for a 40 litre sack. Far cheaper than elsewhere.

Wowee, that's pretty epic! Got what I needed today, and looking forward to some more colour on the balcony soon.

Thanks all!
