Hi Di, did you manage to find any? I am also looking for one to alter a skirt but not sure where they are or anyone who can do it? If anyone has any info that will be nice. Thanks!

Re: Wanted - Seamstress/Tailor in Basel for alterations

I'm also looking for someone to do some simple alterations (well, simple for someone who knows what they're doing ...) -- taking up trouser legs on a couple of pairs of suits.

Can anyone recommend a tailor/seamstress in the Basel region, please?

Re: Wanted - Seamstress/Tailor in Basel for alterations

I had some alterations done at a place called Baran, Freie Strasse 50 (upstairs, 2nd or 3rd floor). They were quick and professional taking my measurements and even taking into account the type of shoes that I would be wearing with my altered pants! They were not extremely inexpensive, but still cheaper than the in-house alteration service at Zara. I haven't tried any other "schneider atelier" as I was happy with their work. Plus, being located directly on Freie Strasse is convenient for changes to your immediate purchases.

Re: Wanted - Seamstress/Tailor in Basel for alterations

I am a Fashion Designer and I have 6 years experience as a Fashion Teacher. I teach Draping, Drawing, Pattern Making and Sewing. I worked for one of the biggest school in the world, have been a jury for Fashion Design contests and did many collaborations with Elle Magazine.

Since we moved here I am taking care of my daughter and have plenty of time (relatively with a toddler ) on my hand. I did some work for some expats. If you are interested to have something done at a very decent price, let me know. It will be a pleasure to fix things for you.

It can be to do hems, to do curtains, to fix a shirt, to create a dress, etc. I work from scratch. From your measurement to the final piece.

Nil

Not wanting to take food out of Nil's mouth , if she is too busy, you can also try KK Kleiderklink at 104 Guterstrasse just near the SBB station (061 271 1283). Colleague of mine recommended her. Handy if you are commuting into Basel through the station.

Anyone can share a bit of information about the price?

I used to. I was working for an international school teaching Pattern making, sewing, draping and some drawing classes. But I am indeed specialised in Pattern Making and Draping.

I didn't teach here in Switzerland because of lack of school, lack of german (from my side) and lack of time (again from my side).

But I do miss it a lot!

Re: Wanted - Seamstress/Tailor in Basel for alterations

Hi all,

I am looking for a tailor in Basel for alterations to an evening gown (it is rather urgent). Any recommendations? There are a few in this thread but they date back to more than a year ago.

Thanks a lot!!

Hello Lesly,

Did you ever find the tailor in Basel for the evening gown alterations? I have an evening gown that needs to be altered as well. Your post is over 3 years old so not sure if whoever you used eventually then is still available now but worth trying! Open to recommendations based on your and other people's experience. I paid a pretty penny for the evening gown and cannot take chances with the alterations.

My friend is a tailor who makes beautiful evening gowns. Pm me if you want his number and I'm sure he could help with the alterations.

Hook nosed, shifty eyed Levantines, mainly.

Why do you ask?

Around here (Urban southern Ontario), Portuguese tailors/Seamstresses are known to be really good, especially for difficult stuff.
