Games Workshop/ Warhammer stockists?

Hi all,
Does anyone know of one in Switzerland. I have trawled the net but with poor German can't turn anything up. I thought I saw a shop in Thun a while back but when I went there this weekend it was gone. I am aware there are no official shops but I was wondering if a hobby type shop may stock them.

Cheers

I am told there is one in Lausanne. Can't remember exactly where, but it was south of the Gare, along somewhere along the metro line to Ouchy. I haven't been there myself, so I can't vouch for the selection of Miniatures or equipment though.

Cheers everyone. Was planning to go to Lausanne next weekend. Not to far away. It's years since I've been involved and just fancy getting back into it.

I'm the same. I was rooting through the attic when I was home at christmas and found some old miniatures and paints, so I brought them over with me. Planning on getting back into the painting/modelling side of it. Need to get some Green Stuff and brushes though. It's a grand little hobby to have.

I don't play the tabletop games but I LOVE the lore for Warhammer/40k, I can't get enough of it. Me = unashamed sci-fi nut.

You're not the only one. the 40k universe is my Star Trek/Wars. I've read an awful lot of it...

But I never really got into the game itself. Just the background and the miniatures. Some of the kits they are producing now are absolutely amazing though, especially the Forge World stuff. But you pay through the nose for it...

Try the new WH40K starter pack - bunch of minis, all the rules, reasonable price. Founding the expansion of the colection of minis is another issue, though...

The only problem with those starter packs is that the Miniatures are usually the most basic available. Some of them are the snap together ones. Not very interesting if you're into the modelling aspect of it. They tend to be aimed at the novice Gamer, as a foothold to get into the actual tabletop game.

So they are worth it if you want to get started in the hobby, but if you already know what you are doing, then they are not much use.

If you want to start building an army, and you already have experience with the Hobby (I'm assuming most people on this thread have a few years behind them) then your best bet is probably to buy the army specific Codex, then decide on what squads/Characters/vehicles you need and get them directly.

If, like me, you just enjoy the miniatures, then browse the GW website, or Forge world and decide what you want to challenge yourself with next.

Even Ebay can be great for getting loose Miniatures or sprues, if you're looking to do some conversions. It's also handy for tracking down Limited Edition Minis. If you're lucky, you may even find some of the 54mm Store Managers Christmas Present miniatures sculpted by Mark Bedford at a reasonable price. Although, in recent times, prices on these has begun to climb steadily, to the point where I saw a particular miniature in an Ebay store with a Buy it Now price of nearly 400 GBP

Luckily, I did all my Ltd Ed shopping a while back...

Re: Games Workshop/ Warhammer stockists?

There is La Guild in Lausanne as mentioned above.

But in my opinion, the better store is Miximage. Here's the website with the location: http://www.jeuvideo.ch/

Re: Games Workshop/ Warhammer stockists?

There is one near Oerlikon Bahnhof I am certain. They have a lot of tabletop games and they have regular meetings.

Re: Games Workshop/ Warhammer stockists?

If anyone is interested in meeting for a game in the Zurich area or even starting a English speakers club e-mail pm me. I am a WHF player, but open to any GW games.

Re: Games Workshop/ Warhammer stockists?

If you have got kids into Warhammer - take a flight to East Midlands airport (UK) and go to the Head Office just south of Notthingham. They have a huge hangar size room with all the different games- regular open games for all levels, and a great Museum with all the pieces ever produced for every game. Not my kind of thing, but the foreign students I used to take there just loved it. There is a pub on site too, serving food.
