Importing plants

I have a good collection of orchids here in USA. Is it possible to ship them over to Switzerland and how hard would this be? Would it be better to just start over with the collection there? Are there good orchid nurseries in Switzerland? Thanks!

It looks like you should contact the Pflanzenschutz (plant protection)folks:

Einfuhr aus anderen Staaten

Aus anderen als EU – und EFTA Staaten eingeführte Pflanzen (lebend oder als Pflanzenteile), sowie Blumenzwiebeln, Garten- oder Blumenerde unterliegen der Kontrolle durch den Pflanzenschutzdienst2) oder dürfen nicht eingeführt werden (vgl. Pflanzen, die zur Einfuhr verboten sind).

1)Als Pflanzenteile gelten u.a. auch Früchte und Gemüse
2)Toleranz pro Person: Schnittblumen (Sträusse) bis max. 3 kg und Früchte und Gemüse (ausg. Kartoffeln) bis insgesamt 10 kg unterliegen keinen Pflanzenschutzmassnahmen.

Wer solche Pflanzen oder pflanzliche Erzeugnisse einführen will, hat sich rechtzeitig vor der Einfuhr beim Bundesamt für Landwirtschaft über die geltenden Bestimmungen zu erkundigen.

How to import plants into Switzerland?

Does anybody know about health regulations to import plants into Switzerland? Or any idea where I can find that info?Thanks!
