Re: Where to buy a Camera

First go to mediamarkt or digitec
Then find your camera at toppreise.ch. You won`t find elsewhere cheaper

Re: Where to buy a Camera

Definitely get an SLR! They're addictive and fabulous.

There are (of course) a few groups you join, for example:
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/DigiFotoCH/ (their organiser is also on englishforum)

Maybe you could drop in to their next meeting, see some cameras and get some advice. This mail came today:

"Our next meeting will be on July 14th at the James Joyce in Zürich, at 19.30.

Please RSVP at the link below before 12.00 on Monday July 13th so that we can ensure enough space for everyone.

James Joyce Pub
Pelikanstrasse 6

Re: Where to buy a Camera

Another good forum to ask questions is on www.photo.net - or rather do a search in their forum since this question is being asked often.

Welcome to a hobby you won't be able to leave - so addictive!!

Re: Where to buy a Camera

http://www.dpreview.com/

is the best site for camera reviews.

For your first camera for serious photography, you prob want an entry level DSLR (Canon 500D, Nikon D5000, Olympus E-620, ... ) or a high-end compact (Panasonic Lumix DMC LX-3, Canon G10, ...).

I find

http://www.digitec.ch

unbeatable for prices.

Re: Where to buy a Camera

Digi tech is probably the cheapest place around for a camera, and equipemt. But check it out on topreise first.
As for classes , I offer a one on one on location class , or you could just join our photoclub, and come out on the meetings. We hold them approx every 3 weeks, and all are welcome , no matter what camera you have
