| | Buying gold in Zurich
Hi!
I'd like to buy some 22 ct. gold (about 10-20 grams). Can anyone recomment a trusted place where I can get it from? I know UBS sells it for about CHF 280-280 per 10 gms. Anybody know any reliable place where I can get it cheaper.
Thanks & have a good weekend!

Did they really quote you a choice price on that amount of gold ?
Or is that a mistaken price you've mentioned there ?
And if that's the market for gold , then that's the market for gold.
You're very unlikely to get gold or any commodity for that matter cheaper than the spot market.

you want to barter on gold prices? www.ricardo.ch might help.
otherwise gold is market price, just like stocks and shares. Can you help me get 2000 UBS N for 50-55 francs? |

Why not buy eg a Krugerrand or a Maple Leaf? They are all 24 karat (99.99%) gold. You can choose the weights as well, eg 1/10 ounce --> 1 ounce.
UBS and everyone else will sell gold to you at the spot price + their markup. It's very competitive and the markup tends to be pretty much the same.
At this very instant a one ounce Maple Leaf will cost you chf 882, and UBS will buy one off you for chf 820...

Don't buy that foreign muck, a good old Vreneli will do the trick, with Mother Helvetia on the coin |

I saw the UBS quote on their website: https://wb1.ubs.com/fin/pub/ace/p/_s...vigationId=233
Currently at CHF 283 for 10 grams.
I saw some gold shops in Langstrasse area but wasen't sure if the stuff I get would be acually 24 ct. With UBS, I could be sure.
UBS rep I spoke to told me that I could come over (Paradeplatz) and pay cash and pick up the 10 grm. kinebar. As easy/simple as that.

Maybe get yourself an LGD (London Good Delivery) bar. They are "only" 400 ounces. Should keep you going for a day or so... |

Do you pay mehrwertsteuer (tax) on gold if you buy kinebars at UBS? Edit: apparently you do not have too, although other forms (shares?) in CH do attact this tax

| | Re: Buying gold in Zurich You should check here http://www.ainsliebullion.com.au/?gc...FQaYiQodNUPZXw They will at least give you the market price of gold. I'm not sure what the current market price is, last I checked it was around $845 AUD an ounce. So if that's the price for as much as you want, then you can't do anything to change it, nowhere will give you less than market value. Pretty sure these guys will deliver anywhere in the world, and personally I buy right over the counter from them as they are about 500m from my work. If you like, and it's cheaper, I will buy it for you right here and mail it to you C.O.D. It's all 99.99% 24carat, the only thing in it is a tracer isotope, and you can buy any amount you like. I dont suggest buying minted coins as you pay way more than market value for the minting of the coin. ie. the weight of the coin doesnt reflect market value price. I don't know where you buy gold in switzerland but I assume its a similar deal there. |

Hello! I have found it very difficult to find a place online where I can buy gold, either a coin or a bar or in any other form, in or around Zurich. It used to be very eazy in the US where any Pawn shop would sell new or used Krugerrand, Maple, Eagle or Panda gold coins of half or 1 oz. weight.
Any help or guidance is appreciated.

well. . now we know where we can buy GOLD.
I want to know whether we can take the purchased GOLD to other countries (home country) in check-in baggage/cabin baggage?
If allowed, is there any limitation on the amount of GOLD we can take with us?
Did anyone do that?
Regards

As a little aside.
My brother in law moved with his wife to the Philippines a few years ago. He packed all his expensive furniture and other effects into a large container and at the last moment he bought a bar of gold which he hid deep inside his sofa. He thought this would be a good way to beat inflation and save on exchange fees.
He managed to find a really cheap shipping company on the internet.
Two months later, in his new house in Dagupan, he received a call from the shipping company that said his container had arrived by ship and would be delivered to his house the next day.
He paid 4 people to help unload the container and help set up the house with his lifelong collection of furniture.
His new wife was really happy - the house would soon be the talk of the village - her husband had really gone to town on his furnishings.
However, once he opened the door of the container, all that he found inside were a box of clothes and 2 wooden chairs in one corner of the container. Everything else, including his bar of gold had been whisked away somewhere on route.
Luckily he had had the foresight to get some insurance - however, they would not cough up for the bar of Gold.
I always wondered how much a whole Gold bar would cost - I never had the heart to ask my brother in law.

for the question about how much gold you can take out of the country, the issue is how much you can carry in your hand baggage and how much you can take into the destination country.
If you can afford so much gold that you can no longer carry it then you're quite a rich person | This user would like to thank Lob for this useful post: | |
