Brockis Basel area

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a nice and not so expensive brockenhaus in Basel. I have been to the one in Hammerstrasse and although the people are very nice, the stuff is not very good quality and the prices are, for lack of a better world, ridiculous.

I was also wondering if you guys know if I can take textiles (clothes, shoes, bedding and towels) to a brocki? If I can, will I have to pay for them to take it?

Thanks!

A

PS: I did use the search option but nothing came up :(

Does anyone know if the Salvation Army moved from Breisacherstrasse in klein basel? If so, where is it now? I don't seem to see any news on the website but the shop was gutted last time i went by.

Lol.. I gave up with those Brockenstubes a long time ago.. they seem to think that any piece furniture made of solid wood, no matter how horrible, is automatically an antique.. and is therefore worth hundreds of chfs...

Online classifieds are way more efficient...

Its sometimes nice to just go have a look though. You cannot see what you are buying online really, yes there are pictures but they can be deceiving. So if anyone knows where the brocki moved to please share!

If you can hang on a few weeks then there's a decent(ish) brocki next to here.

My favourite is still Petersplatz and the Heilsarmee in the Dreispitz and the Auf dem Wolf-brocki (also close to Dreispitz). Wolf is mostly ridiculously expensive, but sometimes I've managed to find some spectacular vintage dresses, handbags etc. If you are into retro-style furniture, Wolf is the place to be. I've heard that they also sell to dealers abroad. But I have to say that prices are way too high at most brockis (Hiobb and Glubos).

The hellesarmee place is still on Breisacherstrasse. I walked past with horse junior this morning and it looked like people where going in and out from the quick view I got through the archway.

There seems to be a brocki that is pretty big near the "Letten" bus stop in Allschwil, I saw it on our way to the Jumbo...

I didn't want to mention that one because I found out he has some strange conceptions on how to do business depending of who you are or where you are from... :(

Oh, that is sad. My family is only half ethnically western European, and we didn\'t have any trouble. The one staff member on duty was in fact quite friendly. And we got some second hand ski-sticks for four francs.
