Simple question: is there anywhere reasonably central in Zurich that will sell shower rails? Ideally not Ikea .... I need to buy one but getting to Ikea and back after work is a real pain, especially if you want to haul stuff around. I keep getting told that places like Jelmoli will sell them, but if anybody knows for sure, that'd be really helpful thanks.

shower rails - you could try Migros City too? The department stores will very likely sell them. You just want a straight one?

In the center of Zurich Jelmoli, Manor & Globus all sell what you are looking for.

There is a Jumbo at the Escher Wyss Platz that will have what you need.

Coop City St Annahof on Bhfstrasse would have some. Possibly also Mobel Pfister on Rennweg.

this Interio place...would it sell shelves? I need a shelf in my kitchen for my microwave (free up what little counter space I have) and again, IKEA can be a pain in the arse to get to.

I racked my brain trying to figure out where the Moebel Pfister is on Rennweg, but though it wiser to keep quiet and go have a look next time I walk through there

Jennifer, I don't think Interio on Rennweg sells shelves. It's just a boutique-style shop, with only a small selection of what they sell at their bigger shopping centers. The boutiques mostly sell cooking wares, textiles, pillows, decorative items such as candles and vases - that sort of thing.

Not the one in the city. No.

I'm trying to think of a big coop bau and hobby type place and I think the one in Oerlikon is pretty easy to get to. It's a very short walk (1-2mins) from the Bhf. Get off on the side that's not Starbucks side (from memory, platform 6 side) and walk down the street towards a coop Center 11. There's a coop bau and hobby in the basement and they should have shelves.

There's a Coop Bau and Hobby at Goldbach, near Küsnacht. It sells most things for the home. From memory it's right next to the Goldbach station on the S bahn line from Zurich to Küshacht. If you drive on the lake road from Zurich towards Rapperswil it's on the left before you get to Küsnacht, maybe a 10 min drive from Bellevue.
