Where did you buy your christmas decorations?

Hello,

I am at loss, for the first time ever I have to buy and decorate my own christmas tree. Can anyone please give me an idea, how did you decorate your christmas tree where did you buy your decorations? I would really like to buy something unique and original, can someone please point me in the right direction?

Kind regards,

Charde

Any stores should have decorations, although there is a small store just 2 walking minutes from Zürich HB that always has something special.

But if you really want a unique decoration, why not make some yourself (and spend the saved money on a little after X-mas or New Years day trip).

Happy decorating

Re: Where did you buy your christmas decorations?

There are loads of places selling stuff at the moment - Coop and Migros (especially the larger ones)....Interio has nice stuff (bit more expensive)....last year we got ours from a DIY store (something like Jumbo or Obi). I'd be surprised if you can walk around any town at the moment without being assaulted by various Xmas decorations!

Good luck in your search

I am being assaulted haha. That is the problem.

The reason I created this thread is because I am looking for that something special.

If you want something really special, go to Basel! Nothing can beat Johann Wanner . http://www.johannwanner.ch/index.php?lang=en

But mind you, it will cost you an arm and a leg.

Tacky key chains and tiny sh1te from places we've visited adorns ours... hidden behind the pretty stuff. It's a tree full of memories and intrigues those who look close.

Pfister is a big furniture chain and they'll have all their Christmas baubles for sale after Christmas. We bought ours at 50% off as we add a little more each year for the year to come.

If by something special you mean something expensive try Swarovski. They bring out a limited edition ornament every year.

Re: Where did you buy your christmas decorations?

We kept it quite simple this year and bought couple of sweets bags with colourful X-mas chocolates from Lidl which decoarted our fake evergreen tree. Add some X-mas cards on the branches and it has its little charm.

Re: Where did you buy your christmas decorations?

I'm going to upgrade this year probably delivery rather than high Street. Any recommendations for outstanding Vendors.

I know Amazon & all that jazz but if there are outstanding Vendors out there I'd love to hear about it.

Re: Where did you buy your christmas decorations?

If you want something "special", try the 100s of Christmas markets around Switzerland & Europe. It's kind of common sense.

Re: Where did you buy your christmas decorations?

Sure fair point however I am looking for online Vendors that will deliver. The Christmas markets are fantastic no doubt but I am time poor when the areas are running & I want to get this in hand well before Christmas arrives.

Re: Where did you buy your christmas decorations?

Given that you are in Luzern, I would recommend the Glasi Hergiswil. Their "seconds" shop has a lot of nice Christmas tree decorations with faults that you would not notice if they weren't pointed out to you.

Edit: they also deliver, though not seconds of course.
