Fibreglass

Hi Folks, I'm new on these forums and I need to locate someone in the Zürich area who will sell fibreglass materials (matting, resin and activator) in small quantities over the counter - I can even motor over the border if that's easier.

The mainstream DIY stores can't seem to help and I'm wondering if using resins falls foul of some environmental laws or suchlike. I also like woodworking and it seems impossible to find decent spirit based varnish. The eco-stuff just isn't hard enough really for things like desktops as well as being very expensive.

Any help appreciated. I do miss having my own garage/project room/junk store!

Re: Fibreglass

I have bought the stuff at Migros Do-It(?) in the past near the section where they sell auto stuff. I imagine that COOP Bau&Hobby would have it also.

The product I bought was from the manufacturer, "Presto" and it was called Fuellspachtel, prestolith plastic. They also have the sheets of glass cloth.

Probably not a good idea to try to bring resins or activators by air, even
in hold baggage; those internal searches can really make one's toes curl

Also check your apartment block / parking area for the big "Brandrisiko"
sign or poster telling you how much of flammable materials you are "allowed".

And don't forget the earplugs so you don't hear the neighbours complaining
about the smell

Re: Fibreglass

I actually drive to the UK, so that's not so much of a problem.

I only really need a small quantity as I need to remodel the inner part of my car doors to take better speakers. The 10cm ones are just hopeless.

I'll try the DIYs again.
