Alrighty!! After months of hardwork and relentless search I finally found a good place to live in Lausanne. Apartment search is a nightmare here if you want something of your own and are nor willing to share.

Now, I am behind next thing which is buying furniture. I heard that there is a store in Lausanne where you can buy second hand furniture for cheap. But what I did not hear is where the store is and what the name of the store is. Does anyone have more information about it?? Please help.

Also if anyone have any kind of offer for any household item, please let me know. I am looking to set up the house from scratch, which means I am going to buy everything that a home requires (iron, vaccum cleaner, TV, phone, table, chairs, curtain.. you name it) So I am just trying to reduce expenses by buying second hand stuff since I don't intend to stay loooooong, but long enough to need my own things than renting.

You need a 'Brockenhaus' - that's a second-hand shop.

I'm sure you will find heaps of threads here on the forum if you put 'brockenhaus' or 'brocki' into the search function

For actual shops:
http://www.labonnecombine.ch/occasions/ which is in Malley, it sells used irons, stoves, TV's, vacume cleaners and other petit et gros électroménager.

http://www.troc.com/fr/ sells used furniture, it is outside town but the largest second hand place you will find.

There is a Cash Converters (rue Mauborget 12, 1003 Lausanne) close to Bel Air which sells all kinds of stuff.

There is a Armée du Salut on rue de la Borde 24 (entrance next to the Coop)

But be aware that the offers you will get are not that great, often you will be cheaper off by buying some things at places like Conforama.

We've accepted an overseas posting to Asia and are selling all our worldly possessions...3+2 seater leather sofa, wardrobe, bed, lamps...in short everything you need to start a household with.
