Thanks for the replies, I found a store I will check in Zurich now (www.hastens.com)

And chicago, yeah the beds ... just not nice for me. Maybe they are as comfortable as american beds if you buy high end, but I just dont like the idea of laying near the floor

I never knew that Hästens was here, and for some bizarre reason I never bothered to look. I always thought it was a Swedish secret, which I knew when I lived in Sweden.

Hästens really is a bed for life. Nice beds, I want one now.

Re: High Beds, Thick Mattresses?

Am facinated by this thread (doesn't take much).

But what I want to know is which style of bed is better for your back?

Knowing the Germanix a little I would guess that the complex, top of the range lattenrost with a decent mattress is probably harder but also better for your back.

I was always told that a spring bed is really comfortable but awful for your back.

Anyone got any insight into that?

H

Although i guess the intended age level for those beds really shouldn't be drinking or something is seriously wrong!

Hello everybody,

I'm originally from Switzerland, but lived in the US for the second half of my life and I very much got used to the HIGH BEDS and thick mattresses.

I cannot stand these low beds, and thin mattresses. Might as well put a mattress on the floor than to sleep on one of these strange objects!

Ok to my questions! Can anyone relate to me here? Does anybody know where they sell American Beds, high off the floor and THICK nice king size mattresses?

I greatly appreciate any feedback and hope you all have a great weekend!

/nev
Haha I too noticed the lack of high beds and giant, uber soft and comfortable couches.

But then again, the Swiss may be on to something. Moving can be quite a pain having to pack and transport such large items.

Is that the one the King of Sweden has? Some Swedish neighbours here had one, which they'd imported and were immensely proud of.

The mattress was a sod to get into the lift when they moved out

Furniture - UK style bed [where to buy?]

Hi,

can anyone tell me where I can purchase a UK /US style bed, i.e. with proper sprung mattress and frame? I only seem to see these CH style ones with a thin mattress on a futon style frame. thanks

A quick search of the forum has come up with some answers for you, there may be others out there:

Buying a mattress

Mattresses: U.S. vs. Swiss

King-size mattresses and box spring availability?

[Where to find a} 63" x 75" mattress

Hi,

I've moved from South Africa recently. My container was a bit full so I decided to leave my spare mattress back in SA. Now I've discovered that mattresses in CH are not the same size as back in SA! Does anybody know of a place (preferably near Zürich or Zug) where I can get hold of a custom size mattress? I'm looking for 156cm x 190cm (63" x 75") also known as "Queen"...

Thanks,
Marijke
