| | Recycled Building Materials...
Anyone know where, if anywhere, around Zug/Luzern/Zurich, or CH in general for that matter, there may be providers/suppliers that deal in recycled building materials? for example, Doors, windows, beams, overstock bricks etc etc.
Also would be interested in recycled/used shop fittings.
Does a service or supplier like this even exist here or is it all too low brow for the average self respecting swissie?
I watched for week, a store that had gone out of biz be cleared out in prep for its new occupier. About 50 grand worth of very high quality steel and glass shelving and store fittings in perfect condition went into a dumpster... I asked if I could salvage some of it and was told in no uncertain terms that everything in the store was trash and I could not buy any of it, even before it went into the dumpster.
go figure...

I saw this site - it might be worth checking out if you are looking for something on the cheap. Staefa - Gold Coast of Lake Zürich.
It's in German but Google, or one of the German speakers on here, will be your friend! Secondhand Building Material | This user would like to thank Longbyt for this useful post: | |

This one I found when chatting to a guy who picks up lots of stuff to replace things in his 'old-fashioned' house. Bauteilclick - German again but the pictures help.

| | salvage? Old house parts?
Hiya,
So, if all goes well, next summer we'll own an old home that will need a lot of work. We're thinking seriously about the work that will be needed (some DIY, some via professionals). I was wondering if there was a salvage yard/store where we can find old house parts. I'm thinking old, as in antique (although, new might be ok in some cases).
We'll be close-ish to Zurich, but my husband and I aren't shy about driving to get things, whether in Switzerland/Germany/wherever. The UK is a bit out of reach though! lol
Thanks!
