Charity Shops

I have several household items, bit & pieces that I would like to donate to a charity shop but don't know of any. Can anyone tell me if there are any charity shops in Basel or the surrounding area (I live in Hegenheim, France). Many thanks

Re: Charity Shops

Hey Appleone,

I am new to Switzerland too so unfortunately i don't have an answer for you. That said, I'd love to know if you got any feedback or tips re this. I am based in Zurich so am looking for charity shops near me.

I'm not even sure donating to charity shops is something they do here in Switzerland but I do feel bad about throwing away all the clothes that no longer fit and I'd love them to go to a home rathe than in the trash...

Also would be good to know if there was a charity that accepted electronic items - in the US I used to donate to a group that would refurbish and send items to Africa.

Any tips from anyone re this wort of thing would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Re: Charity Shops

In German speaking parts they are known as Brockenhaus, Brockenhäuser.

You can search here, typing in "Brockenhaus" & your area "Basel" or "Zürich", http://www.directories.ch/

Re: Charity Shops

There are some in Geneva, if it isn't too far out of your way.

Easily Googlable...

Mm I used these guys a fair bit when I moved here first, they're great for the feelgood factor whether it's buying or getting rid of stuff.
