Re: how many stamps to post to england

Thank you very much, but after having thought about it, I'd know what to do if I were back in the UK. I feel that knowing how to post a letter independently of the woman in the post office is a necessary step in my integration. Already I've managed to stare at a variety of people, watch a talking heads show on Swiss TV about a primary school football team, and ignored a nice tourist couple asking for directions. I really feel if I can master this my integration is complete.

The stamps A that the post send free every now and then, can be used to send letters abroad? How much is their value?

Thanks

But you'd need to use more than one stamp as it costs more than 1chf to send a letter abroad.

The ones that you can use to send letters abroad cost more than 1F each. (1.40 if I recall correctly - economy )

OP,

Use the search function on Swiss Post's site
www.post.ch

What do you mean no? Each is 1F. If it costs 3.40 to send a letter, you can use 3 and pay the difference.
Or go crazy and use 4. You only live once.

That implies that OP should know the price zones and tariffs first. If it's a country in Europe (I don't know why I assumed she/he would like to sent a letter in Europe) it's simpler to buy the right ones.

I would imagine the op has used a postal service before and knows that things differ in prices depending on where, how, what and how heavy the thing she wants to stick those stamps to is.

Yeah, well, then we can argue that OP wouldn't have asked those questions in the first place.

It's easy enough to find that info on the post office website.

If you know the price of sending your item then you just put stamps totalling that amount on the letter and you're good to go.

I have used the free stamps to send letters to the UK frequently. If I don't have any 1.50chf stamps (cost of priority letter in Europe) i either use two free ones or a free one and a 0.85 chf one.

The free stamps are just as valid as any other 1chf stamp. The only problem I have with them is their size if more than one is required.

The question was:

not "Would using free stamps be the most cost-effective way to to send letters abroad?"

The answer is yes. Who knows, maybe that's the only use the OP has for the postal service, in which case the free stamps are infinitely cost-effective.

Helpful tip: when in Australia, you can't use ordinary domestic postage stamps to send items abroad. At least, you couldn't a few years ago, due to General Sales Tax due on domestic postage but not on international.

Re: how many stamps to post to england

I need to send an email to England soon.
Can anyone explain me how payment works as I don't believe it is for free. Can I pay by credit card?

Unfortunately not. Currently you can pay only by Bitcoin, but it's really cheap (and untraceable) -- only 0.10 Bitcoin per email. I'm guessing you don't really know how Bitcoin works, so just let me handle things for you. I'll send you my bank account details by PM* and let you know what to do.
