Re: Oven cleaner

Hi, did you mean company/person or product? Did mine yesterday and the stuff you can buy here is not as powerful as back home.

Here you go

If you go with a chemical cleaner, rinse very well. It can release nasty fumes so open the windows.

From Channel 4 How Clean is your House

Quote:
The non-caustic method calls for, you guessed it, bicarbonate of soda, mixed to a thick paste and smeared all over the inside of the oven. Leave overnight then brace yourself for some serious scrubbing with water and a scourer.

The caustic method requires less graft but more prep. You need a solution of ammonia bleach and water, a respiratory face mask, thick rubber gloves, protective clothes and the surrounding area needs to be well protected, too. Take the oven shelves outside, spray them with your solution and seal them into a bin bag. Spray the oven with the bleach. After a couple of hours, hose down the racks (keeping away from plants, pets, neighbours etc) then wash them in warm soapy water. Rinse out the oven with plenty of clean water. Pregnant women and asthmatics should avoid this like the plague, and keep children and pets well out of it, too.
Bumper packs of bicarb can be obtained from a pharmacy (to save you losing the will to live opening a zillion tiny packets from the supermarket).

Household vinegar is also pretty good at breaking down grease. Buy some steel wool Brillo pad type thingies for the shelves but just use a plastic scourer on the inside of the oven and the glass or you'll scratch it.

Oh, and clean it when it's still just warm after you've used it; the grease will be softer to shift.

I've had years of experience of burnt-on spills and no chance of finding a can of Mr Muscle in Switzerland so had to improvise.

Re: Oven cleaner

The one from Migros is excellent it is called ZAC - spray it on, leave it overnight and wipe away in the morning.

Re: Oven cleaner

Are there any companies/people who will just do an oven clean? There's plenty in the Uk but not seen any here.
