Sooooo tempting to groan at you for this but as I've met you and know you're a fun and funny guy with more of a "party boy" leaning, I'll let it slide... for now.
hmm, nope..I am not a party boy...I'm more for layed back and cool fun...but I honestly prefer to play with grown up things rather than with children's literature and such.

Yes Hsiang...you go play with Batman..while I play with titties. Why are nerdy people so nerdy? I must admit, I tend to like weird things too...but none which includes drawn figures doing virtually impossible human things.

Re: Sci fi, comics, films, Batman, etc etc

I don't have any knowledge on Basel, but for Zurich I'd recommend two shops:

- Analph they have a solid base of comic books in the English language, though if you're into serials from DC/Marvel, I'd rather order online through them or other sources. Otherwise the basic Franco-Belgian stuff. Also a smaller selection of merchandise..

- Comic Shop, Froschaugasse Zürich has mostly the Franco-Belgian stuff, very little in English. On the other hand they have an impressive choice of French language comics!

- Every half a year, there is the Comic Börse in Zurich, if he's interested....

Good luck finding space for all that stuff!

Re: Sci fi, comics, films, Batman, etc etc

Not a huge comic fan myself. I am more of a calvin and hobbes guy.
I see that Payot has a decent collection, but 90% are not in English and most probably not the comics you are looking for. The local comics (bande-dessinées) scene is quite vibrant but if you haven't grown up here, its probably not your thing.

I for one wanted these bookends... but my wife is not so keen on keeping these in the living room

Some comics are awesome... literally works of art. I always had a thing for Marvel comics, and the A vs P comics are also very, very dark and graphic, though not as good as the books. And I would have to say, if your only hobby in this world is playing with boobs and calling people nerdy while yourself posting incessantly on internet forums, then you need some more hobbies. And KFC doesn't count.

It ain't my fault that nobody lets you play with their boobies...maybe you shouldn't tell them about the genital herpes at first.

i think its really nice that you're looking out for your hubby. i wonder how many women would indulge their other half's nerdier interests
I would I started a DND night for my husband We play every two weeks or so
My husband is a real sci fi fan and he has a comic collection but not Batman, he likes Sandman and other that I really do not remember, they are really pretty booklets.
THere is a store yo umight want to check out " Fantastic Empires" in Basel, I am not sure they have comics though but would be a good place to start. They have all kinds of figurines and books, games and also have a warhammer club meeting on thursdays.

If your husband is into DND it would be a great adition to our small group BTW welcome to Basel.

that's very nice of you! do you have a sister i can date and/or marry? you get a finder's fee

heheh, i never really understood DnD or Gathering. but i do love Sandman, actually have the entire first prints. my tastes lean towards the occult a little bit more, like Hellblazer and Preacher. Do you read sandman too? my brother's a journalist and interview Neil Gaiman in singapore...
