Re: Chiropractor

Yes, it is standard. In Switzerland Chiropractors are covered under your basic insurance just as other doctors are.

Perhaps if you have a "managed care" plan it is different?

You should check also that you don't have to go first to your "Hausarzt" (GP) for a referral. Some insurances don't let you make appointments with "specialists" without first going to your family doctor.

Re: Chiropractor

I have had Luprin depot injection - which can cause brittle bones.
Would manipulations given by chiropactors be advisable under these circumstances?

You should talk to the chiopractor! They can deal with my 80 year old father who is rather more delicate than a younger adult.

Hi chemgoddess
I can highly recommend Dr. Christina Padua.
She is an American from San Francisco.
She has done a fabulous job on my back. Staff also speaks English.
The office is conveniently located at the tram stop Stauffacher in Zürich.

Badenerstrasse 21,
8004 Zürich

044 242 60 37

- Simon
I would also recommend Christina Padua.

Re: Chiropractor

Hi,

Does anyone know of a chiropractor near Zug who practices the Webster technique - this is a technique used on pregnant women to prepare the body for labor and delivery.

Thank you!

Re: Chiropractor

Please deeply consider before you go to a Chiropractor.

The risks are far too high, even if you have some kind of benefit, which may very well not happen.

I was treated (with neck and spinal manipulations) by one and it was the worst decision ever.
I've been experiencing for months the following symtoms which deeply diminish my quality of life:

- desorientation, lack of balance, dizziness, vertigo
- fatigue and lack of strength, mainly in the legs
- sore muscles, mainly in the legs but also in the back and arms
- burning feet sensation
- continuous cracks in the upper spine and neck area, accompanied with the sensation of significant fragility
- headaches
- back and neck pain - pain areas migrate intra and during different days

It hasn't been fun at all...
I have done serious reading on publications about the result of their practices after realising these effects and I find extremely worrysome evidence on how dangerous it can actually be and the lack of evidence about their claimed benefits. Go with more conservative treatments. Please do that. It is not worth the risk.

Hope it can prevent anyone from falling on the same trap I did. PM me if you want to avoid the crook (based in Zurich), should you really want to go this path.

I would second this.

be careful if you go to an chiropractor (it is possible that some have already been mentioned on this thread). they are mainly quacks. It is better to go for natural remedies or physio

Welcome to the forum....

Is this a general advice or you're talking about a specific "crook" (chiropractor).

I didn't experience that. (few years ago and not in CH, so rest assured I won't make any publicity to anyone)

Thank you.

I had a really bad experience with ONE chiropractor here in Zurich. This shouldn't, of course, provide enough ground to make a generalised judgement about an entire profession, as any person with a fair share of common sense wouldn't.

However, after a lot of time reading about the controversies of their practice and having all kinds of doctor specialties which I inevitally ended up recurring to (neurosurgery, ortopedics, physiatry, rheumatology, neurology), the general thinking from these experts (not mine) is that potential risks largely outpace the claimed benefits.

I strongly invite people to conduct their own research on the theme and to reach their own conclusions. I'm pretty sure most will share many of my concerns.... and do not set only for what websites from Chiropractors and respective associations say (should raise a red flag to anyone the fact that, simply said, the vast majority of the other websites where Chiropractic is discussed largely expose the underlying risks and cases which went wrong and how poorly reported the situation really is).
