| | Finding a Barber for African-American hair
Hello Everyone,
I have just moved to Geneva and I am in need of a haircut. I am African American male and I would love to find a barber that can cut ethnic hair. I tried one barber but he ended up taking my hairline back (which is not a good experience). If anyone knows of a good barber please please let me know.
I have a basic haircut : Low and even all around and then lined up (I have attached pictures of how my hair was in the U.S.)
Thank You So Much

We had this place in Wettingen, which is a bit far to travel..
But maybe you could give them a call and ask them for a contact in Geneve.

Barbers like this are found in immigrant-dense areas and the best way is just to take a walk and have a look. If you were in Zurich I'd recommend Langestrasse and the streets around that area.

Not sure but, I think you contacted me through Facebook, right? Any luck getting a proper trim in Geneva?
Back In London I got my "pretty boy" fade hair cut every two weeks. But since moving to Zurich Switzerland, I've had to cut my own as most barbers here tend to cut too far back on the hairline (not a good look 2 days later!)
I'm now trying to pool together with other like situated people to fly a London Barber into Switzerland. If it goes well, it could be a monthly thing.
So if anybody (male) in the Zurich area is interested in having professional afro-carribean/american/black-hair cut by a veteran London Barber, let me know.

i would advise you another best way is to watch out for people wearing a good cut that you like and ask them where they get theirs that is if you are not shy ! ..or look for afro shops... it has work that way for some of my friends

Yes, also an option! Although personally that approach has not worked out for me. Either the cuts are a hit or miss affair or the barber is unreliable. But that's just my experience.

Here is something I've posted on a similar thread:
LIB gets his hair cut at this African barbershop on Militärstrasse. I don't remember what the place is called...but it's the first barbershop (on the right) coming from Stauffacherquai going to Langstrasse. The guy does an excellent job and it costs only 30chf.
ps: and they speak English there

I've tried there a while ago, maybe things have changed and I need to try it again.

Thanks for this thread, I'll be bringing my not so "pretty boy" hair to Zurich and I'll hit up these areas mentioned here.
Thanks again for testing these shops out for me...my wife was not excited that I might bring back the college 'fro.
30CHF wow, guess I'll have to get adjusted to the sticker shock.

Hi, You're not too far from Lausanne, and I highly recommend a place on Chemin des Croix Rouges. It is exactly what you are looking for, and I hear they are very reasonable on prices. I believe one or two speak English. From St. Francois, you walk beyond The Palace Hotel, thru the small park and continue beyond the Casino, cross the street, through another very small "park". You will come to a crosswalk, bridge on your right, Clinique Cecil in front, on your left. Cross the street, and at the intersection, continue down the Chemin des Croix Rouges, and it is just a bit on the right. Give them a try! I highly recommend them.

In Lausanne there's an ethnic African hairdressers on rue du Maupas (by the crossing with Avenue de Beaulieu) and another one on rue de la Tour. I'm sure there are more. From Geneva it's only 35 minutes to Lausanne (by intercity train) so that might be a viable option for you.

BellaVoce01. If you buy a philips or remington mans haircut kit (amazon)...
and a hat like this for doing the edges...
you should do fine.
