Last week I ordered three books from Amazon and in the process of doing so, I tried to make two exact similar orders - one from amazon.de and one from amazon.co.uk, in order to see if the cost would be the same.

The total for the UK order was €38.35 (£31.63) and the one from Germany was €46.85. Both incl. shipping.

As I wanted to save the €8.35 I ordered from Amazon.co.uk, but to my surprise, the shipment arrived from Amazon.de

So....conclusion? Oh...shop (books) at Amazon.co.uk and get your order fast and cheaper from Amazon.de

Amazon is most likely significantly cheaper if you buy several books at the time.

However....thanks for the tip. I will certainly check prices in both shops prior to ordering next time.

In my experience thebookdepository.com is cheaper than Amazon every time, especially when the postage is taken into account.

Oh I am just a customer believe me, I have no shares with bookdepository either, just one very happy customer...It surprises me about the costs though as they are usually the same price or cheaper than amazon.co.uk and well the delivery is just a plus

c'mon !! nothing can beat the amazon.com marketplace. Pick your preferred book and checkout amazon.com the choice of "Buy Used" or even "Buy New" you of course have to look at the reputation of the specific seller but I have always had the best experience and the best prices.

I have checked many times and amazon.com is the cheapest, fastest and most reliable way ...

I guess the lesson to be learned from this thread is that sometimes Amazon is cheapest on a specific book and sometimes "bookdepo-whatever" is.

So shop where ever you like. The point with this thread originally was to point out, that my order to Amazon.co.UK was shipped from Amazon.DE.

Funny that happened, I have bought other stuff at amazon.de, it was a game I believe and they did not charge me for postage and I got the tax discount! (Item was priced at 26 and I paid 20 I think or so euros).

Exactly my experience. And they have quite a lot of English books too. And with your amazon account you can also order from the States, which I have done too at reasonable prices.

...but they certainly ain't the cheapest, free delivery notwithstanding.

So far there have been only slight differences in the prices when I compare to amazon.co.uk but mostly the prices are the same, not always though.

It is also worth noting that bookdepository is also a supplier sometimes, when ordering from Amazon.co.uk. We ordered three books on Amazon recently, and one came directly from bookdepository.
